Cláudia leaves no room for defense.
Eyeing the number-one spot in the IBJJF rankings, Cláudia do Val shows no sign of slowing down on her world tour. Last Saturday she was across the globe from home to nab another double gold.
At the Asian National, Cláudia took the super-heavyweight title by being the only athlete enrolled, but she had to step on the mat to secure the absolute title. The final pitted her against Kristina Barlaan, who had won the featherweight division. Cláudia was merciless, taking the lead with a sweep and a mount, and then taking the back with a fulminating bow-and-arrow attack.
“Nossa expectativa é de ter lutadores e lutadoras de mais de 50 nações, com representação de todos os continentes”, diz Silva. “Como Nagoya também é uma região de muitos atletas e professores brasileiros, estimamos que veremos 60% competidores que já moram no Japão, com os demais 40% chegando do restante do globo.”
