A renowned BJJ teacher, Roberto Roleta donned the gi to fight an athlete with special needs this month in a SJJSAF event in Rio de Janeiro.
His match with purple-belt Diogo Oliveira (Fadda JJ) was part of the event’s opening ceremony, where BJJ personalities took on special-needs athletes in a celebration of the sport’s potential for integration, which is a tradition in SJJSAF tournaments.
Mauro Ayres ensinou para a equipe GRACIEMAG: "Adaptar-se é o segredo em qualquer campo da vida, em especial no Jiu-Jitsu, e quem não entende isso, demora muito mais para aprender, para evoluir. Um exemplo: nem todo mundo vai conseguir emplacar um berimbolo ou uma guarda mais ágil no seu jogo, principalmente se for das categorias mais pesadas, ou começar a treinar com mais idade. Sem problemas, porque o camarada pode ter mais êxito se adaptar o Jiu-Jitsu utilizando a pressão do próprio peso no oponente."
