Eyeing the top of the IBJJF rankings, Cláudia do Val has again won double gold in the U.S. Fighting at the New York Spring Open, held last month, the De la Riva representative put on a show and concluded her run in the absolute division with a nice submission win.
After winning the heavyweight title by default, Claudia fought twice in the absolute. In the final, she was faced with Fiona M. Watson (Fight Club). Following an ineffective start that led both fighters to be penalized, Fiona made her move, attempting a foot a attack. What she hadn’t foreseen was Cláudia using Fiona’s movement against her and sinking a tournament-winning toe hold.
As dificuldades são variadas: a logística, dificuldades de tempo, dificuldades com treinamento, dificuldades com sono e com a recuperação. São tantas que na minha cabeça tudo aquilo soava como uma equação inviável. Mesmo com toda disciplina, determinação e motivação, duvido que algum atleta homem conseguiria atingir tamanho feito. E creio que realmente posso afirmar isso, pois treinei diversos campeões mundiais. É isso mesmo, se ser mulher já é algo difícil em todos os sentidos na nossa sociedade, imagina numa modalidade esportiva dominada por homens e que até pouco tempo atrás nem mulheres treinando existia, muito menos competindo.
