Yuri Simões tops the podium, with Victor Silvério in second, and Breno Bittencourt and Fellipe Trovo in third.
As well as the Rio Open and the Washington, DC Open, this weekend the IBJJF held the San Jose Open. The city of Saratoga, Calif. was the stage.
Yuri Simões, a black-belt from team Caio Terra and two-time ADCC champion, used his experience and skill to win the men’s absolute title.
Although he had also signed up to fight among super-heavyweights, Yuri couldn’t make the weight, which left him extra-hungry for gold in the open division. He had three fights between him and the title, against Nisar Noylab (Atos), Breno Bittencourt (Ares) and Victor Silvério (Gracie Barra).
Confirming an unfortunate trend, Sábatha dos Santos (Ryan Gracie) had no opponents in either the women’s medium heavy or absolute divisions.
