You know things are heating up in the inaugural season of TUF Brazil, starting March 5 on Brazil’s Globo network, when:

1. UFC president Dana White says the fights at the tapings are out of this world.

2. Top-selling Brazilian magazine “Veja” rushes to get in a story on the reality show in this week’s issue, with Anderson Silva on the cover for the first time.

3. Mainstream commentator Galvão Bueno shows up in São Paulo at the TUF house to greet coaches Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort.

4. The subject spills out of the gyms and makes it to the barroom tables.

5. The first controversy goes public, with news of footage showing featherweight Alexandre “Sangue” (meaning “blood” in Portuguese) Ramos participating in a soccer riot that broke out at Couto Pereira Stadium during the 2009 Brazilian National Championship.

Ultimately, GRACIEMAG.com is pleased as punch that MMA fans in Brazil can now enjoy MMA news on just about any mainstream media outlet—IG, Lance, GloboEsporte.com and ESPN Brazil—, as was not the case less than three years ago. But our role isn’t to break word on things you can read elsewhere. We want to help you get better at Jiu-Jitsu, not disseminate controversy. What we want is lessons, not back-fence babble.

That said, here are 5 bona fide Jiu-Jitsu “lessons” from five candidates for stardom on Globo television network. Something you’ll only find on GRACIEMAG.com, of course.
