The Felix Event Center in Azusa held this Sunday another edition of the Los Angeles BJJ Pro, with competitors vying for some prize money as well as glory.
In the men’s section, IBJJF-ranked black-belts competed across four weight divisions with top prizes of 4,000 dollars. At featherweight, Kennedy Maciel (Alliance) beat João Pedro Mendes (Atos) to claim the top of the podium. In the middleweight division, the champion was Jaime Canuto (GFTeam), who bested Otávio Souza (Gracie Barra).
At heavyweight, Gustavo Batista (Atos) defeated Fellipe Trovo (Gracie Barra) in the final. And at ultra-heavy, Helton Junior(Atos) beat Antônio Braga Neto (Gordo JJ). Each male second-place finisher went home with 1,000 dollars.
In the women’s section, the 1,500-dollar prize for absolute champion went to Luiza Monteiro (Atos), who beat Karen Antunes (Checkmat).
