This Thursday the 18th, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced that at 4pm an additional 272 tickets for UFC Rio will go on sale via the Ingresso.com website. It will be the last chance for fans in Brazil to purchase tickets for the August 27 show. An adjustment in the seating configuration and the return of canceled tickets made it possible for a new and limited batch to be made available.
International credit cards will not be accepted. The tickets are for all sectors of the UFC Rio venue: stands, central stands, special seating, premier seating, and octagon-side seating.
The Brazilian installment of the UFC will be headlined by Anderson Silva defending his middleweight title against Yushin Okami. The doors open at 5pm, and the undercard kicks off at 7pm. The main card is set to begin at 10pm.
UFC Rio created the greatest simultaneous demand ever registered in online ticket sales website Ingresso.com history. On June 17 at 11:30 pm, 162,000 unique hits were recorded on the site. The entire batch of available tickets were bought up within 74 minutes by fans from 18 Brazilian states. Rio de Janeiro, the city hosting the event, took first place with 37% of the tickets sold. This fact further corroborates the investment Rio de Janeiro city government has made in sponsoring the event, with the aim of boosting tourism to the city, as 63% of the ticket holders are from other states and countries. Second place went to São Paulo, with 28%, while Paraná took third, with 6% of the tickets purchased. International fans of the sport represent 3%, mostly from the United States.
An additional one thousand tickets were released to Brazilian fans only on July 26, which was made possible by adjustments made to the venue’s facilities, cutting the number of big screens from six, as originally configured, to four high-definition screens. The tickets were sold out within 12 minutes.
