Metamoris has released an official statement regarding the situation involving Chael Sonnen.

The former UFC fighter is schedule to face André Galvão in the main event this Saturday, in Los Angeles, but reports surfaced that the Nevada State Athletic Comission was trying to stop the match because of Sonnen’s two-year suspension following two failed drug tests.

The reports said that Sonnen would be subjected to a $250K fine if he competed.

Metamoris trusts that no-gi grapling and Jiu-Jitsu are not under the jurisdiction of the NSAC.

Here’s the official statement by Metamoris.

“The Chairman of the Nevada State Athletic Commission confirmed in an interview (Seen below) following Chael Sonnen’s recent hearing before the Commission that the Commission’s Order only applies to events sanctioned under the Commission’s rules, and does not apply to no-gi grappling. Therefore, we confidently anticipate that Chael will appear and compete at Metamoris IV this Saturday afternoon, as planned. Chael is scheduled to travel to Los Angeles, on Thursday, August 7, 2014

The event posted a video of a interview on its Facebook page with the Chairman of the NSAC, Francisco Aguillar, where he states that wrestling and grappling events are not subjected to the control of the Comission. The interview was done by Combate’s Evelyn Rodrigues.
