Mask, staredown, and tension at UFC weigh-ins

Things really got ugly at the UFC 126 weigh-ins and the crowd that packed the Mandalay Bay stands went wild this Friday in Las Vegas.

Vitor Belfort, challenger to the middleweight belt in the evening’s main event, was applauded as he entered, while champion Anderson was booed. In response to statements made by Belfort, saying Anderson wears a match (rewatch it here), Silva didn’t go easy on the provocations.

He really did don a mask when it came time for the staredown and storm clouds rolled in. With words unpublishable, Spider made it clear Saturday’s fight will be a heated affair.

The climate became so tense Dana White showed concern there could be more serious consequences. But in the end it was left at that: another promotional piece for the most awaited fight of recent years.
