Amanda Nunes, the “Lioness of the ring”, brought her win tally to five out of six fights at Bitetti Combat 6, last Thursday in Brasilia. In December of 2010, deemed the underdog, Amanda overcame the seasoned Vanessa Porto. Again the underdog, the tough Bahia native defeated Ediane India.

“When I’m in the ring, although always humble, I enter victorious. Win or lose, we should always leave with our heads held high. But I was sure I would win, because I went in with victory in my head without thinking about losing,” she told GRACIEMAG.com.

The fighter believes that her the triumph at BC6, broadcast around the world, will open doors abroad. Among the gifted athlete’s goals is a bout facing world number 1 Cris Cyborg. Only when the time is right, though.

“I really want to fight abroad and I’m open to contracts. God willing, I’ll be there soon. I make my way, step by step. I want a showdown with Cyborg, but when the time is right. Not wanting to skip steps, slowly but surely,” said Nunes, who is interested in returning to Bitetti Combat while no overseas offers come in.

“Boy, the event was wonderful! The structure was beautiful, everything was great to see and I think that not just athletes, but all the people who came to watch loved the event,” she said in closing.
