Spencer Stone, the American Airman who alongside three other men stopped a gunman in a high-speed train between Holland and France last month had this to say about his experience.

“I 100 percent believe that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu saved my life at that moment,” Stone told Air Force Times on Wednesday. “Every move I used on him was very, very basic — you can learn in five minutes. If we had a course like that in the Air Force for people to learn basic moves, it could help anyone in a situation like that.”

Stone, who was injured during the struggle with the alleged terrorist, is a white belt and trains at the base he is stationed at the Azores archipelago, in Portugal.
