Jiu-Jitsu Grand Slam to gather more than 2,000 athletes at Olympic Arena

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in  Rio de Janeiro is among the best-paying, most prestigious stops of the United Arab Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s Jiu-Jitsu World Tour. There are 2,085 athletes registered for the competition, set to take place at the Olympic Arena in Rio on Nov. 12 and 13.

The Grand Slam’s goal is to provide a competitive environment for BJJ athletes so that they reach excellence at a global level, and it’s well on track. With the vision to become the sport’s chief symbol, the UAEJJF, through the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam, has blown away expectations to attract the world’s best and garnered plenty of recognition in the BJJ scene.

Brazilian athletes make up 1,864 of those signed up, including stars like Jiu-Jitsu Mackenzie Dern, Ricardo Evangelista, Romulo Barral, Nathiely Jesus, Bia Mesquita, Felipe Preguiça and Xande Ribeiro. Check back here for coverage of the event.
