The kids at goodwill project “O Lutador do Futuro” are heading up the hill to invade the city of São José dos Campos, in São Paulo state, this Saturday, for the inaugural “Campeonato Estadual Escolar ” (State Interscholastic Championship).

Professor Horacio Messias is traveling from the town of Ubatuba to the city of São José dos Campos with a six-athlete team in hopes of gaining a berth at the Brazilian national judo championship.

“This is a great opportunity to show the results of our training here at the project and a great opportunity for the kids to become familiar with how competitions work and to socialize with other athletes. I’d like to send out a thanks to Ubatuba city hall, which provided us with transportation, and Mercadinho Santa Martha market for the food they provided the kids, said Horacio, the project coordinator.
