Known as the most family-oriented event in world Jiu-Jitsu, the Pan proves it this year by attracting fighters of all ages, belts, beliefs and sizes.
Want a better sign of it than seeing father and son – and both fierce competitors – signed up together?
We’re referring to medium heavyweight black belt Ian McPherson, 25, and his brown belt father, Jim McPherson, who will represent Alliance in the senior 3 division.
Besides the McPherson clan, the Pan also boasts Gui and Rafa Mendes, Eduardo Ramos, Diego Gamonal, Jason Ebarb, Mike Weaver, Francisco Mendes, and veteran Kazeka Muniz, among other stalwart competitors guaranteed at the event set to begin March 24 in Irvine, California.

Thank you for mentioning that Ian and I will be fighting yet again at the Pan Ams. This tournament is a wonderful celebration of our sport and an opportunity to test ourselves against some of the best in the world. I wish to thank all the people who work so hard to make this tournament happen, especially the referees who put in many long hours. This will be our 5th Pan Am and it has been a pleasure to see our sport grow from year to year. Best wishes to all fighters and coaches!
