summer promoRubens Cobrinha had no easy path to his second ADCC -66kg gold medal, last weekend, in Brazil.

In four matches, he finished Tezeekbev Rasul (choke from the back), then beat teammate Gianni Grippo 3-0 (guard pass). On Sunday, he got a referee decision win over Augusto Tanquinho to meet Bruno Frazatto in the final. A back take settled the 3-0 score and the title for Cobrinha.

After the celebration and a stop on the highest step of the podium, Cobra talked to GRACIEMAG’s Marcelo Dunlop. He first commented on his training camp: “People ask me how do I feel when competing against the new talents and I say that i actually feel like a newcomer. I respect all my opponents and my way of showing that respect is by training more than them,” said the 36-year-old black belt that trained seven hours daily leading to the 2015 ADCC.

When asked if he already thinks about defending his title in two years, Cobrinha cracked a smile: “Yeah, I guess I’ll be there putting some work one more time!”
