The Curitiba Open, the last open event of the IBJJF’s 2016/2017 season, had Leandro Lo as its absolute champion, with Erberth Santos taking silver.
But, predictably, Erberth left town with some gold. Before that, he faced Antônio Assef in the ultra-heavyweight final. With a reversal originating from the omoplata and a swift back-take, Erberth put himself in a position to finish via choke, with a firm pendulum to make the squeeze inexorable.
