Few aspects of Jiu-Jitsu have gone through such great evolution as the sweep, a maneuver where the practitioner starts out on bottom and ends up on top, poised to attack.

Deep half-guard, X-guard, de la Riva guard—all these resources are widely used in both Gi and No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu competition.

IN JIU-JITSU, IT ALL STARTS WITH THE BASICS

However, as Jeff Glover (Paragon Jiu-Jitsu) teaches below without the gi, none of it matters if you don’t have the basic moves down pat, like the primordial scissor sweep allowing him to clutch his teammate’s leg in half-guard.
