It’s to take place August 7 at UFC 117. Coincidentally or not, the event features six bouts pitting Americans against Brazilians, in an MMA challenge between nations. Ricardo “Cachorrão” Almeida is to face Matt Hughes, a bout boasting an element that sets it apart from the rest of the card. At his last appearance, Hughes was responsible for Renzo Gracie’s setback.

“Renzo is my teacher. You never want to see your teacher lose, but that’s what happened and I’m in the same weight group, so I asked for the fight right then and there,” Cachorrão told MMAJunkie.com.

Although he doesn’t deny his desire to get back at Hughes for his team’s defeat, Almeida guarantees he has nothing personal against Hughes.

“I have no resentment towards him. I’ve read interviews where Hughes says he really has no resentment towards the Gracies, me or anything like that. It’s just a win I want to get for my team.”
