UFC Rio: pre-sales sold out in 40 minutes

It didn’t take much longer than the predicted duration of the five-round headliner between Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami. In forty minutes the UFC Rio 134 advanced ticket sales evaporated.

Tickets go on sale this Friday starting at 11:30 pm only on the www.ingresso.com website.

Although it’s quite a show of enthusiasm from Brazilian fans, it doesn’t quite set a record. At the end of April in Toronto, normal sales of tickets for UFC 129 started at 10 am over the internet and Rogers Centre box office. By 10:40 every ticket booth at the stadium was closed and every ticket, sold. UFC 129 had 55,000 tickets to sell, however, and brought in 12 million dollars. The financial impact the event had on the Canadian city was 40 million dollars, according to estimates at the time.
