It’s not really a matter of who can defeat her anymore.
The question everyone should be asking is whether anyone can take Ronda Rousey to the second round of her fights.
Cat Zingano, said to be the most dangerous opponent Rousey would face in her career, lasted 14s.
With a odd strategy of running towards a judo olympian medalist with the best takedown in the business, Cat was even able to get a hold of Ronda and initiate what looked to be a takedown.
Fast as ever, Rousey reversed the movement and landed on top, already grabbing a hold of Zingano’s arm for the also well known armlock.
It didn’t came in the usual form, but it came as efficient as always and Zingano had no other option than to tap.
“I knew she was going to try something like that, a fast high knee right in the beginning, so I was ready for it,” said Ronda after the 14s of action.
“I want to do it again!” said Cat Zingano, in tears.
The only positive side of the outcome of the fight for Cat is that she is used to tough setbacks.
First she got badly hurt on her knee and needed surgery when she was getting ready to fight Ronda for the bantamweight belt at the end of TUF 18.
When she got better and was ready to go again, her husband and coach Mauricio Zingano died suddenly, throwing her off balance.
Even so, she endured all that to get back into the game and eventualy defeat Amanda Nunes to get her title shot again.
And now this.
She wants a second go at Rousey and she may as well get it, but first she needs a new strategy.
In the co-main event, Holly Holm made her UFC debut with a not very convincing split decision win over Raquel Pennington.
