Recife FC was back with its fifth installment this Thursday at Chevrolet Hall in Recife, Brazil, featuring two international bouts and two title fights on the 10-fight card.

Weighing over 100 kilos (220 lbs), Jiu-Jitsu black belt and one-time UFC veteran Mario Sukata showed he’s still got it, finishing England’s Dave Keeley just 2:27 minutes into the main event of the evening. In the other international match-up, Freddy Assunção pushed the pace in overcoming also-Englishman Jay Furness by unanimous decision.

Now in the title fights, if Kell Santos (Instigação Xtreme) was aware of the fearsome reputation Thawã Rill had acquired since the first time they squared off, having knocked out one-time UFC title challenger Hermes França last April, he didn’t show it. Kell threw a combination of strikes that staggered Thawã in the second round and caused referee Mario Yamasaki to step in and put a halt to the action. Besides notching his second win over Rill, Kell took the promotional welterweight belt home with him to Campina Grande.

For the middleweight title, Jack “Godzilla” and the relentless Arimarcel “Chocolate” fired on all cylinders for three rounds. Arimarcel managed a heelhook towards the end of the second stanza, but Godzilla was saved by the bell and penalized one point for grabbing the fencing. Once time had run out, Godzilla was awarded the split decision.
