It’s about time for the bout between Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Shogun, to take place May 8 in Montreal, Canada. Challenger for the light heavyweight title Shogun had a chat with GRACIEMAG.com during the final days before the fight:

“I’m calm. My mind is on fight time and putting to use what I trained to do. But that’s all cool,” said the Curitiba native.

“Now’s the final phase. I’m not training heavy anymore; it’s time to drop weight, relax and rest,” he adds.

One of the wildcards in his preparations for Lyoto was his training with Glaube Feitosa, a karate and K-1 fighter. But Shogun heaps praise on the whole team.

“Glaube certainly added a lot. He’s an experienced guy, a great training partner. But I also trained with my brother, Dida, Tuba, Marcio Gracinha… It was a really great team.”
