Towards the end of the 1930s it could be said Brazil had three great idols: President Getúlio Vargas, the singer Orlando Silva, and soccer star Leônidas. There was a fourth celebrity, though, if he did in fact only figure at fourth. He was that tiny fighter whose victories were always emblazoned on the front pages. Not without reason, the life of Helio Gracie is the subject of curiosity even today, and it was made into a swell TV program on the Biography Channel.
