Jose Aldo new WEC Featherweight champion

The USA’s Mike Brown saw his reputation as being unbeatable begin to see its foundations rocked in the first round against Jose Aldo Junior, this evening in Las Vegas.

At WEC 44, the now-former featherweight champion saw a cut open on his face and his forte of taking the action to the ground rendered ineffective, while challenger Jose Aldo Junior, with his overall quickness, began to take off.

With perfect timing of knees and kicks, Aldo rattled the champion, who in frustration exposed himself more and more.

In the second, Mike Brown’s supposed grappling edge did not shine through, as the new champion put the former on his back after a failed takedown attemp, mounted – forcing Brown to roll to all fours –, and allowed Aldo to sink his hooks and pummel him until the referee could bear no more.

Now the question is who will challenge Aldo for the featherweight throne.
