If your initial berimbolo fails, just do what Keenan does and still get to the back

Keenan Cornelius won his first black belt tournament at the Abu Dhabi WPJJC West Coast Trial on Saturday, Sept. 22 by submitting all four of his opponents.

In one of his matches against Eliot Kelly, he went for a traditional berimbolo technique but detoured to another path. He was able to secure the back and even the choke after he abandoned the deep de la riva hook while upside down. A popular combination here would be to come up with the leg drag but he opted for his intended destination, the back.
