Glover Teixeira continues his saga in the cage. The fighter first came in contact with the fighting arts in the United States at 22 years of age, and, after leaving his construction job, he has only ever won. His talent caught the attention of the team of Chuck Liddell, with whom he boarded in the past. His return to Brazil was due to interest from big organizations like the UFC. The fighter had to get his documents in order, which should happen this year.

Besides his reputation as a knockout artist, his ground game is up to speed, too. Proof of it came at the Brazilian ADCC tryouts, which he won. His last two appearances came at Bitetti Combat, the latest of which was against Joaquim Mamute, a fighter responsible for the lone blemish on the record of Junior Cigano, a heavyweight currently on a tear in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Glover comments on his latest triumph via technical knockout, his seventh win in a row before the final bell.

“I don’t know what I think of the fight. I’m happy because I won, but I think I messed up some. Sure the guy is tough and has his merits, but I want to review some things. Mamute is a great fighter who has beaten lots of great fighters,” he assayed.

Mamute was added to the card as a last-minute substitute for Jeff Monson. Glover recognizes his opponent’s courage.

“I can only thank him, Mamute gained a friend. He came in at the last minute and was looking for my fights on the internet one day before the fight. I have a lot of respect for him because of it.”

On Monson, it’s the second no-show for a fight with the Brazilian. Glover spoke with Monson’s manager, Alex Davis, who guarantees the fight will take place.

“I really want to fight him. Jeff Monson is a great fighter, and let’s see if now it ends up happening. That’s my hope. I’m dying to face him and, from what I hear, he’s dying to face me, too. God willing, this fight will happen,” he says in finishing.
