UFC fans should start getting used to the idea. Ed Soares, Anderson Silva’s manager, asserted that the middleweight champion doesn’t want to renew his UFC contract. “It’s hard to say, but now he has four fights left on his contract and at the moment he isn’t interested in renewing,” Soares told the Sherdog Radio Network, according to our collaborator Junior Samurai.

Anderson Silva is 36 years old and is currently the top fighter in the UFC, without a single defeat in MMA’s most famous cage, holding wins over Rich Franklin, Vitor Belfort, Yushin Okami, Forrest Griffin and others.

“He wants to take it one fight at a time and not think about anything else. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he just does these four fights and stops,” added Soares.

Besides his advancing age, something else influencing Anderson’s outlook for the future are the extra-octagon opportunities that have been popping up. Following UFC Rio and since joining forces with former soccer star and now manager Ronaldo, Anderson has become something of a television star in Brazil, participating in TV shows, commercials and music videos, and receiving invitations to perform in the movies as well, as a voice-over actor for cartoons.
