UFC 148: Anderson Silva v Chael Sonnen - Press Conference

Anderson Silva is getting in the zone to compete in the UFC again.

With his return already scheduled for January 31, in Las Vegas, against also returning Nick Diaz, the Spider talked about his expectations in a teleconference this Friday.

0_HayabusaGi_StampSiteFirst, he addressed the worries his family has after his gruesome leg injury the last time he stepped in the octagon: “To tell you the truth, they are not too happy but they respect my wish, and now they’re coping with it. I don’t think anybody’s family would like to see them going to war, and with mine, it wouldn’t be different.”

Then, Silva assured the Journalists that he is aware of the environment in the middleweight division and told them what he expects of the match with Diaz: “I’ve been paying attention to all the best fighters in the UFC but I never thought that in my career I would face Nick Diaz,” he said. “But I’ve watched all his fights, and I know his style really well. He’s got great Jiu-Jitsu and this fight has all the ingredients to be one of the best fights of all-time. I believe it’s going to be one of the best stand-up battles of the UFC.”

Silva also talked about his recovering from the broken right leg: “I have been doing a lot of physical therapy, and right now it’s at 95 percent and improving. On the day of the fight it will be 100 percent.”

In Closing, he talked about what he expects of his future and whether he sees another title shot in it: “I have another seven fights in my contract, and right now it’s not a priority, but it’s not out of the question to fight for the title,” he said. “If I have the credentials to fight for the title, I’ll be more than glad to do it.”
