The competitors’ battle begins at weigh-ins, and this Friday at ADCC 2011 in Nottingham was no different. Most won the struggle against the scale, with just two coming in over weight. Rani Yahya, who realized he wasn’t going to make the 66kg weight ceiling, ended up one division up as an alternate; and Rousimar Toquinho, who didn’t make weight because he only arrived at the moment weigh-ins began, was given a chance to shed four kilos by today, Saturday.
“Rousimar had problems in Brazil and, unlike most others, didn’t have time to make weight at weigh-ins; that’s why he got another chance,” referee Troy Waugh told GRACIEMAG.com.
