Nova Uniao is another team preparing for the 2013 World Championship on May 30 through June 2. With portions of the team scattered all over the world and team members traveling into the states early on for training camps, they are ready.
Gustavo Dantas’ Nova Uniao Arizona is taking twenty four competitors to Long Beach. The Nova Uniao USA Headquarters has been building a solid team in Arizona for the past 13 years, producing standouts such as Christian Broadnax (brown belt lightweight), Kristina Barlaan (brown belt featherweight) and Sarah Black (purple belt lightweight). Marcelino Freitas’ Nova Uniao Australia has been finishing their preparation in Arizona and their leader is set to compete in the black belt lightweight division. The Andre Pederneiras black belt has two students competing at the worlds, including Australian standout Patrick Lim (blue belt featherweight).
In Kansas City, the talents from Nova Uniao Bangu were training with Bruno Bastos’s black belt Fabio Andrade, Leo Pecanha and Nova Uniao co-founder Wendell Alexander. Marcio Andre (purple belt featherweight) and Isaque Bahiense (blue belt medium-heavyweight) are getting ready with each other to get the gold.
In Midland, Texas, Abu Dhabi World Pro brown belt absolute champion, Kaue Damasceno had the support of current blue belt absolute European champion Horlando Monteiro and “The Highlander” Bruno Bastos.
