The second season of Copa Podio promises electrifying combat already in its next event, the Lightweight Grand Prix, scheduled for May 1 at Hebraica Gym, in Rio de Janeiro.

Among the main novelties in the event is the Team Duel, which will put Alliance and GFTeam on a collision course. There will be three fights between aces of both teams, and the team with more points wins. In case of submission in the first fight, the team at disadvantage should seek to submit during the next fight in order to continue in the duel. If each team submits once, the third fight decides which is the winning team.

The organizers recently announced which athletes are already scheduled for this electrifying confrontation in which the winning team stays and waits for the next challenger throughout the season.

“This afternoon, Fabio Gurgel and Julius Caesar confirmed the participation of Alliance and GFTeam, and they were the ones to set the teams,” creator Jeferson Maycá explained. “I’m very excited because the Team Duel promises to repeat the excitement of Couples Duel, another fight that should come back soon to our events.”

The order of the fights will be raffled during the Grand Prix launch event, to be scheduled soon. The fighters, however, are already set. The teams are scheduled with:

* Vinicius Marinho (GFTeam) vs Michael Langhi (Alliance) – up to 77kg

* Leonardo Maciel (GFTeam) vs Dimitrius Souza (Alliance) – up to 86kg

* Rodolfo Vieira (GFTeam) vs Léo Nogueira (Alliance) – up to 98kg

With the definition of the athletes scheduled for the Team Duel and also for the Cities Challenge, which according to what GRACIEMAG.com announced, will gather Braulio Estima and Xande Ribeiro, the expectation is on other GP competitors.

Among the lightweights already confirmed are Leandro Lo, Diego Borges and Michael Langhi again. Like him, Rodolfo Vieira will fight twice. However, his main opponent on the super-fight remains a mystery, as explained by Jeferson Maycá.

“I already told you it isn’t Bochecha, because they will certainly face each other before Copa Podio, in Abu Dhabi or at the Panamerican,” Maycá said. “The only clue I can give you is that he is a very tough opponent, who never fought with Rodolfo. The name will be announced between tomorrow and Monday”.
