Ulpiano, Trenton

GMA member Ulpiano Malachias, leader of Gracie Barra Westchase, is in Texas for less than a year but he is already making a huge difference in his students’ lives.

Read what Trenton Eichhorn, 9, wrote to GRACIEMAG.com about his professor:

“I am writing you this email because I recently read an article in GRACIEMAG about my Jiu-Jitsu school and my Professor, Ulpiano Malachias.  I have to say that having Professor here in Houston has been one of the best things to happen in my life so far. He is such a great instructor and I am learning so much from him.

Before the Gracie Barra opened up here in the Westchase area, I wrote Professor a letter telling him how happy I was that he would be teaching here, and when the day finally came for the opening of the school, I made sure I was one of the first to sign up.

Professor is really good with the kids, although if you ask him, he’ll tell you “other instructors are better at it than he is…”; he’s a funny guy. Anyway, I have been in a few tournaments since the opening and one of my goals was to win the first medal for our new school. It was a tough achievement, but I got it done!

Professor had just returned from the Pan 2011when the medals were delivered to the school, and he was so excited to see his hard work paying off. They even happen to be the first medals of the adults class, as well.

All of the students love it here and work everyday to be the best they can be. ProfessorUlpiano has not only made my technique better, but also made my love for the sport stronger…,that’s the type of person he is, and that’s the type of man I want to become when I grow up.  Although he is missed in California, all of his new students here in Texas are grateful to have him here…

Thank you Professor…, we hope to make you and GB Westchase, proud!!!”
