The tenth installment of WOCS to take place this Friday at Clube Oasis in the Rio de Janeiro borough of Barra da Tijuca is not limited to being a normal fight spectacle. A full day of activities are planned, with an academic gathering and workshop with a number of fighters, among other things.
The big news is in the workshop. As brothers Antoine and Adrian Jaoude will no longer be able to be there, the promotion called on two major names: UFC champion José Aldo and Sengoku champion Marlon Sandro. The academic encounter starts at 9 am, while the workshop, which also includes André Pederneiras and muay thai master Flávio Almendra, kicks off at 3 pm. To participate in either of the activities, all you need to do is bring three kilograms of non-perishable food, to be donated to the NGO Instituto Consciência.
“Everyone is invited to participate. The activities are open to all fight fans or members of any academy,” says organizer Phillip Lima, who will launch his book “Muay Thai Alternate – Um estudo sobre a luta como arte, cidadania e educação,” at the event at 2:45 pm.
