The Nextel radio at the GRACIEMAG.com newsroom beeps: “Now, Pink and Brain are confirmed at the Pan,” says a joyous Gabi Garcia.
The black belt had already put in her name, as reported yesterday on this website. Her training partner and companion on winners’ podiums everyone, Luanna Alzuguir, however, was still in doubt.
“Now things are fine, the headache’s over. My manager managed a last-minute plane ticket and I’m heading to the Pan!” adds Luanna.
In 2010 the duo from Alliance shared the open weight class podium at the year’s main events: the Pan and the Worlds. Now they’re looking to repeat the feat.
“I’ve always competed in the absolute, ever since I first started competing. I even feel better in it due to the people I train with. I always train with men and most people are heavier than I am. That gives me confidence. I’m light, but I train to move around well and I work out to be strong and have a firm grip against all the girls,” says Luanna.
Want to know the secret to her success against the big girls?
“I train with Gabi, who’s the queen of the absolute. That’s what makes it work out. There isn’t a better training partner for the absolute than her. My prep work and training with her is the perfect formula!” she says in closing.
Sign-ups end this Wednesday, so don’t miss the chance to participate. Do as Luanna Alzuguir does, sign up here.
