Tóquio e Roma são as próximas paradas do circuito da AJP.

Nos dias 13 e 14 de janeiro, o Abu Dhabi Grand Slam retorna ao Japão após várias temporadas longe. A sede do evento será o ginásio Ota, na capital japonesa, que promete atrair grandes astros da arte suave e competidores amadores locais também.

Como prova da expansão da organização, o Grand Slam depois mira seus holofotes para a Europa. Será o primeiro evento na Itália, na terra do Coliseu e dos gladiadores que não se entregavam jamais.

O Abu Dhabi Grand Slam World Tour Rome será entre 12 e 14 de abril, no Matteo Pellicone Olympic Center, conhecido como PalaPellicone. A meta da organização é ter outros eventos no Velho Continente em 2024.

As a luxury warm-up for the awaited Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, a big challenge draws closer in the AJP calendar. Scheduled for September 16th and 17th, the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour Miami bears the promise of a great Jiu-Jitsu show with renowned athletes already set to compete in it. On the first day of the competition, the experienced Masters heat up the mats with their knowledge of the gentle art. Then, on the second and last day, the Professional category takes the stage to put on a spectacle of its own for the fans at the arena, and those who will follow the event live on AJPTour.tv.

The location is a big part of the tournament’s allure. While the competition itself will take place in the spacious Watsco Center, providing all its comfort to athletes and fans alike, the warm weather of the Floridian summer and the pristine Miami beaches add to the overall experience, making this one of the most tantalizing AJP tournaments this year. That’s not to mention the many other attractions that the city offers to its visitors, such as natural parks and exciting nightlife.

O último dia do Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu no Rio de Janeiro impressionou o público presente na Arena Carioca 1, neste domingo, 11 de junho, com o mais alto nível do Jiu-Jitsu internacional. Com a medalha de ouro em jogo, mais de mil atletas estiveram em ação em busca do topo. Nomes conhecidos, veteranos da AJP e até mesmo rostos promissores subiram aos tatames com um único objetivo em mente: tornar-se um campeão do ADGS.

As disputas pela faixa-preta tomaram conta das cinco áreas de luta no terceiro dia, com as finais servindo como encerramento do torneio e proporcionando ao público presente na arena, e àqueles que assistiram ao evento ao vivo pelo AJP.tv, um espetáculo ainda maior.

MASCULINO FAIXA-PRETA

56kg – Oziel Carvalho x Faris Kashmeeri

Oziel levou o ouro em casa num duelo técnico contra o saudita Faris. Oziel pontuou primeiro ao subir na puxada dupla. O combate voltou em pé e Oziel puxou. Faris tentou passar no final da luta, mas Oziel aproveitou a oportunidade para subir e marcar outro ponto. o popular “Zizi” venceu por 2 a 0 para conquistar o ouro no Grand Slam.

62kg – Leonardo Mario vs. Wagner Chrispim

Leonardo e Wagner proporcionaram um combate intenso. Leonardo começou por cima, pressionando a meia-guarda de Wagner. Depois de soltar a perna da meia-guarda, Leonardo escorregou direto para as costas e finalizou com um mata-leão para conquistar a vitória. Além da vitória, Leonardo assumiu o topo do ranking da divisão até 62kg.

69kg – Alessandro Botelho vs. Matheus Onda

Atleta da Melqui Galvão Jiu-Jitsu, Alessandro “Cavalo” Botelho mostrou muita garra ao vencer Matheus Onda na final dos 69kg. Matheus puxou para a guarda e subiu com boas pegadas para abrir o placar em 2 a 0. Alessandro então montou uma guarda de uma perna só e usou o gancho para subir na perna única com a lapela, indo para baixo para completar a raspagem. Matheus atacou com uma chave omoplata e Alessandro lutou por alguns minutos, até se livrar da tentativa de finalização e marcar dois pontos na inversão, empatando o combate em 2 a 2. Como foi o último a pontuar, Alessandro levou a vitória e o ouro na categoria 69kg.

77kg – Luiz Paulo Medeiros vs. Leandro Souza

Um duelo agitado entre Luiz e Leandro. Luiz Paulo puxou, Leandro respondeu com uma tentativa de estrangulamento em laço, e Luiz aproveitou a oportunidade para subir com 2 a 0 no placar. Luiz então quebrou as pegadas e se desvencilhou, colocando pressão por cima para passar, acertar a lateral e garantir mais um ponto. Ele fechou o placar em 3 a 0 com a medalha de ouro.

85kg – Uanderson Ferreira vs. Pedro Silva

Uanderson e Pedro se enfrentaram na explosiva final da categoria até 85kg. Pedro abriu o placar com uma tentativa de estrangulamento em laço, que Uanderson prontamente defendeu, mas que ainda colocou o primeiro à frente por 1 a 0. Uanderson atacou o braço e empatou o placar. Em seguida, uma raspagem para cada lado colocou o placar em 3 a 3, com Uanderson por cima. Ele então marcou novamente perto do final ao quase passar a guarda, para vencer por 4 a 3 em sua cidade natal.

94kg – Marcos Carrozzino vs. Vinicius Liberati

Destaque no topo do ranking da AJP, Marcos Carrozzino retornou à sua terra natal depois de dominar a Europa, com o objetivo de conquistar o ouro no ADGS Rio. Na final, contra Vinicius Liberati, Marcos começou por cima e recebeu um ponto, depois que Vinicius foi punido por uma pegada por dentro da calça. Marcos trabalhou com segurança por cima e sustentou o placar para boletar o ouro.

120kg – Yatan Bueno vs. Luis Oliveira

Yatan Bueno e Luis “Cantareira” Oliveira fizeram a última luta do dia. Luis puxou para a guarda e Yatan se projetou para o lado em busca de uma brecha para passar. Quando alcançou o controle lateral, sem apontar para a passagem, Yatan foi direto para as costas e estrangulou Luis com um ataque letal.

FEMININO MARROM/PRETA

49kg – Eliana Carauni vs. Brenda Larissa

A argentina Eliana Carauni levou a melhor sobre a campeã do AJP World Pro e favorita da divisão, Brenda Larissa. Em um duelo disputado nos mínimos detalhes, tanto no tempo regulamentar quanto no golden score, Eliana derrotou sua adversária ao convencer os árbitros de que foi mais eficiente durante toda a luta, e ficou com o ouro na decisão dos jurados.

 55kg – Beatriz Campos vs. Evellyn Azevedo

Recém-promovida à faixa-marrom, Beatriz puxou para a guarda laçada no começo e rapidamente girou para subir. Evelyn atacou com o pé durante o giro e diminuiu para 2 a 1. Beatriz então marcou mais um ponto na tentativa de passar a guarda e fechou o placar em 3 a 1, e foi coroada no campeonato.

62kg – Vitória Vieira vs. Maria Luiza Delahaye

Vitória foi o grande nome da categoria até 62kg. Em um embate contra Maria Delahaye, Vitória puxou a perna da adversária para a guarda 50/50 e subiu com segurança. Por cima, Vitória investiu num bote letal na chave americana de pé para garantir o título por finalização.

70kg – Ingridd Sousa x Thalyta Silva

Thalyta  para a guarda fechada logo no começo. Ingridd escapou, mas Thalyta mudou perigosamente da guarda laço para a guarda aranha. Thalyta, então, entrou em uma perna só e acidentalmente balançou a perna para fora da linha central do corpo de Ingridd, sobre o joelho dela, o que é classificado como um movimento ilegal. Thalyta foi desclassificada e Ingridd levou o ouro na categoria 70 kg.

 95kg – Isabely Lemos vs. Roberta Ribeiro

Com apenas alguns dias na faixa marrom, Isabely conseguiu chegar à final da categoria marrom/preta 95kg. No duelo contra Roberta Ribeiro, que tentou puxar a guarda desde o início, Isabely aproveitou a oportunidade para girar e evitar uma queda na double-leg, e deixou o placar em 1 a 0. Com um movimento rápido, Isabelly pegou as costas e atacou com um  estrangulamento de gola. Roberta não resistiu a pressão e foi finalizada.

The last day of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu in Rio de Janeiro gifted the crowd at the Arena Carioca 1 this Sunday, June 11th, with the highest level of international Jiu-Jitsu. With the gold medal on the line, over a thousand athletes stepped onto the battlefield to fight for glory and renown. Well-known names, AJP veterans, and even brand-new faces stepped up to the mats with a singular goal in mind: to become an ADGS Champion.

The black belt matches took over the five fight areas on the third day, with the finals acting as a closer to the tournament and providing the crowd at the arena, and those that watched the event live at AJP.tv, with an even greater spectacle.

MEN’S GI / BLACK / PROFESSIONAL

56kg – Oziel Carvalho vs. Faris Kashmeeri
Oziel took the gold at home in a technical duel against Saudi Faris. Oziel scored first by going up on the double pull. The combat returned to its feet and Oziel pulled. Faris tried to pass at the end of the fight, but Oziel took the opportunity to go up and score another point, closing the score at 2-0 to take the Grand Slam gold.

62kg – Leonardo Mario vs. Wagner Chrispim
An intense duel between Leonardo and Wagner. Leonardo started on top, putting pressure on Wagner’s half-guard. After releasing the leg from the half-guard, Leonardo slipped straight to the back and locked a rear naked choke to take the win. A submission and top of the ranking for Leonardo Mario.

69kg – Alessandro Botelho vs. Matheus Onda

An athlete from Melqui Galvão Jiu-Jitsu, Alessandro “Cavalo” Botelho showed a lot of grit when he beat Matheus Onda in the 69kg final. Matheus pulled guard and went up with good grips to open the score at 2-0. Alessandro then put on a one-leg guard and used the hook to get up on the single-leg with the lapel, going down to complete the sweep. Matheus attacked with an omoplata lock and Alessandro struggled for a few minutes, until he got rid of the submission attempt and scored two points from the inversion, tying the match at 2-2. Being the last to score, Alessandro took the victory and the gold in the 69kg division.

77kg – Luiz Paulo Medeiros vs. Leandro Souza
A hectic duel between Luiz and Leandro. Luiz Paulo pulled, Leandro responded with an attempted loop choke, and Luiz seized the opportunity to go up with 2-0 on the scoreboard. Luiz then broke the grips and decoupled, putting pressure on top to pass, hit the side, and secure another point, closing the score at 3-0 with the gold medal.

85kg – Uanderson Ferreira vs. Pedro Silva
Uanderson and Pedro clashed in the explosive final round of the 85kg division. Pedro opened the scoreboard with a loop choke attempt, which Uanderson promptly defended, but that still put the former ahead by 1-0. Uanderson attacked the arm tying the score, and sweep for each side put the scoreboard at 3-3, with Uanderson on top. He then scored again close to the end, almost passing the guard, to win by 4-3 in his hometown.

94kg – Marcos Carrozzino vs. Vinicius Liberati
Featured at the top of the AJP rankings, Marcos Carrozzino returned to his motherland after dominating in Europe, putting his sights set on the ADGS Rio gold. In the final, against Vinicius Liberati, Marcos started on top and received a point, after Vinicius was punished for an inside-pants grip. Marcos worked safely on top and kept the winning score at 1-0.

120kg – Yatan Bueno vs. Luis Oliveira
Yatan Bueno and Luis “Cantareira” Oliveira had the last fight of the day, with Luis pulling guard and Yatan gunning for the side, looking for a space to pass. When he reached the side control, without pointing for the pass, Yatan went straight to the back and strangled Luis in one go, taking both the win and the division gold.

WOMEN’S GI / BROWN / BLACK / PROFESSIONAL

49kg – Eliana Carauni vs. Brenda Larissa
Argentina’s Eliana Carauni got the better of AJP World Pro Champion and division favorite Brenda Larissa. In a duel disputed to the smallest detail, both in regulation time and in the golden score, Eliana defeated her opponent by convincing the referees that she was more effective throughout the fight, taking the gold via decision.

55kg – Beatriz Campos vs. Evellyn Azevedo
Beatriz started the fight pulling to a lasso-guard and quickly spun to climb up. Evelyn attacked with her foot during the spin, putting the match at 2-1. Beatriz then scored one more point in the attempt to pass the guard and closed the scoreboard at 3-1 to take the division title.

62kg – Vitoria Vieira vs. Maria Luiza Delahaye
Vitória was the big name in the 62kg division. In a duel against Maria Delahaye, Vitória pulled her opponent’s leg to the 50/50 guard and climbed safely. On top, Vitória spun aiming at Maria’s foot, attacking with a toehold to secure the title via submission.

70kg – Ingridd Sousa vs. Thalyta Silva
Thalyta opened the fight by pulling to a closed guard. Ingridd escaped, but Thalyta dangerously switched from lasso-guard to spider-guard. Thalyta then entered the one-leg and accidentally swung her leg off the centerline of Ingridd’s body, over her knee, which is classified as an illegal move. Thalyta was disqualified and Ingridd took gold in the 70kg division.

95kg – Isabely Lemos vs. Roberta Ribeiro
With just a few days as a brown belt, Isabely managed to climb all the way to the brown/black 95kg final. In the duel against Roberta Ribeiro, who tried to pull guard from the get-go, Isabely seized the opportunity to spin and avoid a fall in the double-leg, leaving the score at 1-0 and controlling from behind Roberta, who used the turtle position to defend herself. With a quick move, Isabelly jumped for a collar choke, taking the win and the division title.

Faltam poucos dias para conhecermos os novos campeões do Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour Rio de Janeiro 2023. Diante de competidores de alto nível que estarão em ação no campeonato, espera-se que o topo do pódio do ADGS Rio seja um dos mais prestigiados do mundo.

A Arena Carioca se prepara para receber um grande evento neste fim de semana com alguns dos jogadores mais conhecidos do Jiu-Jitsu mundial. De campeões mundiais de Abu Dhabi as medalhistas de ouro de Grand Slam e vencedores do King of Mats, a lista do evento deste ano também traz muitos rostos novos, ansiosos para assumir os holofotes e gravar seus nomes na mente do público.

A equipe da AJP observou a fundo a preparação de alguns atletas que podem brilhar no evento. Enquanto viajavam para o Rio, academias como a PSLPB Cícero Costha e a Fratres proporcionaram uma visão mais próxima de grandes atletas como Hiago George, Sabatha Lais, Leonardo Mario, Alex Munis, Rafael Mansur, Vinicius Liberati e outros competidores perigosos.

There are only a few days left until we meet the new champions of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour Rio de Janeiro 2023. Having received some of the most notorious fighters in the sport, it’s no wonder that the top of the ADGS Rio podium is one of the most prestigious in the world.

As we draw closer to the 2023 edition, on June 10-11, the Arena Carioca gets ready to house a spectacular show with some of the well-known players in worldwide Jiu-Jitsu. From Abu Dhabi World champions to Grand Slam gold medalists and King of Mats winners, the roster of this year’s event also comes with many new faces, hungry to take over the spotlight and etch their names in the mind of the crowds.

Knowing some of those names and academies, full of great competitors, our team visited and took a closer look at the last days of preparations prior to the ADGS Rio. As they made their way towards Rio, academies like PSLPB Cicero Costha and Fratres provided a closer look at major athletes such as Hiago George, Sabatha Lais, Leonardo Mario, Alex Munis, Rafael Mansur, Vinicius Liberati, and other dangerous competitors.

After a long journey in the 2022-2023 season, it was time to come back home. The AJP Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour circled back to its homonymous territory and provided an incredible display of technique at the modern Mubadala Arena, in the heat of UAE’s capital.

After three days of action from kids to masters, in all weights and belt divisions, this last Sunday, May 7th, the black belt champions, as well as the Heroes of the season, were finally revealed. The warriors who traveled the world with us and gave their best to accumulate points in the Black and Brown/Black rankings were awarded the Golden Eagle and a trophy, to remember for years to come that the glory is real for those who fight for it.

MEN’S GI / BLACK / PROFESSIONAL

56kg – Zayed Alkatheeri is a man on a mission. The 56kg jewel of the UAE came back from outstanding results in the season to end the tour with a big win for his crowd. And that’s what he did. After a tough semifinal match, won by points, Zayed went on to the finals to face the top-ranking Yuri Hendrex. The match was close, tied on points, but Zayed managed to score the last point and get the gold, causing cheers from the people who came to see their favorite athlete fighting live at the Mubadala Arena.

62kg – Khaled Alshehhi registered to fight in this ADGS to make a statement: He’s here to take over the 62kg division. His efforts in this tournament were awe-inspiring, with three tough fights until the glory of the gold. After beating Nariman Mynbayev and the dangerous Wagner Chrispim, Khaled faced Jefferson Fagundes at the grand final. With all his knowledge and technique, Khaled got the last point in an 8-8 bout and got home with the gold medal hanging on his shoulders.

69kg – Thiago Marques was the double champion of the day in the ADGS Abu Dhabi. After getting the gold on Saturday, in the Masters division, Thiago fought once again on Sunday, won three more fights, and went straight to the finals, to face the medal collector Hiago George. The Commando Group coach took a long breath, went into the duel with guns blazing, and beat Hiago via 3-2 to get his second gold of the tournament.

77kg – Adriano Araujo got his gold in a last-minute action and got crowned, as he deserved, after a great campaign in this ADGS. After winning two fights and beating Lucas Protasio in the semifinals, Adriano tied at 3-3 in his final against Andre Cantanhede. However, with a takedown landed at the eleventh hour, Adriano put the scoreboard in his favor, and the 5-2 points made him the champion of the 77kg division.

85kg – Three fights and three wins for Jansen Ramos. After landing an 18-0 score in the quarters and submitting GFTeam’s Hiago Lima in the semis, the Checkmat powerhouse went up against Uanderson Ferreira in the final round. After putting the score at 3-2, Jansen showcased his prowess by landing the submission that earned him the title.

94kg – Crowning a golden season, Marcos Carrozzino was unstoppable in the ADGS. With three fights and two submissions on the bracket, the GFTeam athlete went toe-to-toe with teammate Catriel Fernandes in a very balanced final round, with Marcos taking the win via the referees’ decision.

WOMEN’S GI / BROWN / BLACK / PROFESSIONAL

49kg – Diana Teixeira was merciless in the 49kg division. After submitting Flavia Quintareli in the semis, Diana went full-throttle for the final round, in which she quickly landed another submission against Isadora Maggioni to take the gold. 

55kg – Submitting every opponent that dared stand in her way to the gold, Ariadne de Oliveira was like a freight train on the 55kg division. First, she beat both Dayane Bazzoni and Galina Duranova to advance through the bracket. Then, in the final round, she wasted no time in landing her third and final submission against Alexa Yanes to become the reigning champion. 

62kg – Maria Luiza Delahaye had to fight twice before she could call herself an ADGS champion. After imposing her game and landing the score at 10-0 against Isabela Ribeiro in the semifinal, the GFTeam athlete went on to face fellow teammate Julia Alves in the gold round, settling the match with a submission to take the 62kg gold.

70kg – Ingridd Sousa was the name to look out for in the 70kg bracket. After submitting Marian Urdabayeva in the quarters and scoring 6-0 against Raquel Santos in the semis, the Brazilian athlete clashed with Yara Kakish in the finals, submitting yet again to stand atop the division podium.

95kg – The scoreboard was Izadora Silva’s best friend through the 95kg bracket. After landing a 4-3 against Marcelle Catanhede in the semifinal, Izadora went on to score a 2-0 against Mayara Moreira to become the 95kg champion at the ADGS.

As grandes estrelas do Jiu-Jitsu mundial estão de volta ao centro mais cobiçado do esporte no planeta. Com competidores de primeiro escalão confirmados, o AJP Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Professional Tour 2023 se prepara para a realização de um evento grandioso. O torneio será realizado de 5 a 7 de maio, na moderna Mubadala Arena, no coração da capital de Abu Dhabi. 

O campeonato começará com as chaves infantis no dia 5 de maio, para depois receber os experientes os masters no dia seguinte, 6 de maio. No último dia, 7 de maio, os faixas-pretas fecham a competição com a promessa de combates emocionantes e a consagração dos campeões..

Entre os atletas mais conhecidos destacam-se, Lucas Protásio e Julia Alves, líderes do ranking 2021-2022, que já garantiram seu lugar no evento. 

Para repetir o feito na temporada 2022-2023, eles terão que superar outros pesos pesados que estão à caça do prêmio, caso de Yuri Hendrex, Zayed Alkatheeri, Alexa Yanes, Rose el Sharouni, Catriel Oliveira, Uanderson Ferreira, Thiago Macedo, Hiago George, Ingridd Alves, Leonardo Mario, Renato Cardoso e Yatan Bueno.

Last weekend, Erberth Santos confirmed his favoritism by reigning supreme in the 110kg division of Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Rio de Janeiro, held at Barra da Tijuca’s Olympic Park.

To get there, he beat three opponents before the final opposite Fernando Reis (Alliance). This was a hard-fought match, but a back assault with a precise attack on the collar brought about the tap-out, following Erberth’s spin with squeeze.

Com mira no topo do pódio, Erberth Santos garantiu seu favoritismo no último final de semana, ao reinar na divisão até 110kg do Abu Dhabi Grand Slam do Rio de Janeiro, realizado no Parque Olímpico da Barra da Tijuca.

Para chegar lá, Erberth bateu três adversários antes da final contra Fernando Reis (Alliance). A luta foi disputada, mas um bote pelas costas com ataque certeiro na gola trouxe os três tapinhas de Fernando, após um giro com arrocho de Erberth.

Atual bicampeão do ranking da federação de Jiu-Jitsu de Abu Dhabi (UAEJJF) no adulto, Igor Silva traçou como meta repetir o feito das duas últimas temporadas, mas agora na categoria Master. E o faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu começou bem a sua caminhada ao derrotar dois adversários para conquistar a etapa de Los Angeles do Grand Slam de Abu Dhabi, que aconteceu no último final de semana.

“Minha expectativa no Master é tentar repetir o mesmo feito dos dois anos anteriores, quando venci o ranking sem kimono e depois o com kimono, ambos na categoria adulto faixa preta. Fiquei muito feliz em ser o único na história da UAEJJF a vencer o ranking com e sem kimono na faixa-preta adulto, agora espero conquistar o master e acrescentar mais um feito inédito”, disse Igor, que apesar de não ter treinado como gostaria por conta do nascimento de seu segundo filho, ficou satisfeito com a vitória.

“Eu fiz duas lutas e acabei vencendo por pontos (6 a 0 e 8 a 0). Achei a minha participação boa, mas poderia ter sido melhor. Eu não vinha treinando constantemente depois do nascimento da minha filha, nem descansando como deveria, mas acredito que a felicidade da chegada dela me deu uma força extra também”, explicou.

Radicado em Abu Dhabi, Igor precisou fazer muitas viagens nas temporadas passadas para participar dos torneios do Grand Slam e somar pontos no ranking da UAEJJF. Questionado se terá participação tão constante nos torneios agora que teve outro filho, o faixa-preta de 34 anos não teve dúvidas em afirmar que manterá a mesma pegada.

“Lutar muito é a meta!”, respondeu com bom humor. “Lutei muito na última temporada, mas não só as etapas da UAEJJF, lutei também no ACBJJ e na IBJJF. Estou me adaptando a nova vida com mais um filho, porém minha esposa me apoia muito e entende a importância das competições para a nossa família. Então, pretendo lutar bastante esse ano também”, encerrou.

O torneio promete apresentar o melhor do Jiu-Jitsu mundial com os maiores atletas da atualidade, e estes terão a oportunidade de somar preciosos pontos no ranking da UAEJJF, que premiará os melhores da temporada com um total de 120 mil dólares.

Para o evento em Tóquio, nomes como Paulo Miyao, João Gabriel Rocha, Claudia Do Val, Nathiely de Jesus, Kaynan Duarte, Rudson Matheus, Gutemberg Pereira, Bianca Basílio, Mayssa Caldas, Amal Amjahid, DJ Jackson, Larissa Paes e Samantha Cook já garantiram presença.

Além das emoções das disputas entre atletas de todas as categorias e faixas, o evento conta ainda com o retorno do Abu Dhabi Legends, e o primeiro duelo será entre o bi-campeão do Legends Vitor Shaolin contra o japonês Daisuke Sugie.
