One trip, three months, four medals

A Korean purple belt caught a plane earlier this year and spent three months in Brazil.

This alone would be amazing, if you consider the distance and the courage it takes to travels around the world just to learn some Jiu-Jitsu.

But our Korean guy did more. Not only he trained a lot in the three months he spent in Brazil, but he also decided to sign in for two competitions.

Just taking part in a competition when you are so far away from home is quite an achievement, but our Korean purple belt did more.

He won.

And again!

GMA member school Roots Korea head instructor Jo Jaesub managed to win a gold medal (61-67kg master) and  a bronze medal (Absolute) at the Copa Prata da Casa; and two silver medals (61-67kg master, Absolute) at the Rio State Championship tournament.

Roots BJJ, a network of schools in Australia and Korea, is headed by black belt Paulo Guimaraes.

Congratulations to Jo and to Paulo.
