Academy awards and Jiu-Jitsu lessons

Among the movies in the running for an Oscar, the best Jiu-Jitsu scene is in “Inception”.

But the best movie, among those indicated – and likely to win –, is “The King’s Speech”.

A film that may win over a lot of folks who prefer full-length action and violence (like “The Fighter”, “True Grit” or even “Black Swan”, which got a lot of tough guys into the theater to watch a ballet flick)…

… Is “The King’s Speech”, a film about two men giving their all. And that is always touching, no matter is we’re watching two athletes in the UFC, two players on the pitch or the King of England.

On the eve of the Oscar, GRACIEMAG.com picked some lessons from the main candidates and serves them up for you to savor below:

Of course, without spoiling it for those who haven’t watched them yet.

“The only one getting in your way is you” (“Black Swan”)

“Brother, get it through your head, you can’t be me. You have a tough enough life just trying to be you” (“The Fighter”)

““That guy did not just get off the #@$% couch. If he did, I’m gonna get a couch like that.” (“The Fighter”)

“Your biggest test… is yet to come” (“The King’s Speech”)

“Don’t you want to take a leap of faith? Or become an old man, filled with regret, waiting to die alone!” (“Inception”)

“I really have lived this last year. I wish I had learned some lessons more astutely, more rapidly, than I did (“127”)”

You must pay for everything in this world, one way and another. There is nothing free except the grace of God.”(“True Grit”)

“Ground’s too hard. Them men wanted a decent burial, they should have got themselves killed in summer.” (“True Grit”)

“– You have everything!

– Everything. Except someone to share it with me…” (“Toy Story 3”)
