The 2014 World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship kicked off this Tuesday, April 15, at the FGB Arena, in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Kids from all over the world took the nine mats by storm to display a lot of passion for the sport and some amazing skills.

From Costa Mesa, California, Guilherme Mendes brought 10 competitors to represent his Art of Jiu-Jitsu academy and the final result was almost perfect.

“We won nine gold medals and one silver medal!”, Guilherme proudly celebrated.

The team performance was for sure dedicated to newest member of the AOJ family, Rafael Mende’s baby boy who decided to come to this world three weeks early and made the proud father travel back to the USA in a hurry as soon as he landed in the UAE this Monday.

With that, Guilherme had to coach the team by himself.

Despite the outstanding results by the AOJ team, the majority of the medals ended up with the local team.

Proving once again the awesome job that is being done at the local schools, the UAE students dominated the standings.
