With less than a week to go before the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship’s debut, the organizers have once again joined hands with AJP, this time to gift fans with an entertaining Fight Week. As the ADXC1 gets ready to take over the Mubadala Arena next Friday, October 20th, Jiu-Jitsu aficionados will have plenty of chances to meet their favorite athletes throughout the week.

Starting on Tuesday, October 17th, the main fighters and coaches will take part in a Meet & Greet at the UAEJJ Fitness, where they’ll be available for photos, autographs, and maybe even a quick chat. After that, the athletes will warm up their bodies for the last time before the event, showing their best moves for the crowd at the open workout.

Moving on to Wednesday, October 18th, the main players of the ADXC1 will sit down for the press conference, where they’ll talk to journalists and fans about their preparations, what they expect from the tournament, and any other questions that come up. Reporters and Jiu-Jitsu connoisseurs will make their way to the Mubadala Arena, eager to hear what their favorite athletes have to say.

On October 19th, one day before the ADXC1 debut, the Mubadala Arena will be all geared up to pick up the pace ahead of the tournament, promoting many attractions at the ADXC Fan Zone. Later on, the stars of the show will face their very first challenge: beating the scales in the Ceremonial Weigh-Ins. Still on Thursday, the most dedicated Jiu-Jitsu athletes will have the chance to take part in a super seminar, led by Atos’ leader André Galvão, and Checkmat’s leader Léo Vieira.

All these attractions lead up to the main course on October 20th, at 8 p.m., as the ADXC1 completely takes over the Mubadala Arena and welcomes the stars of its debut. Don’t miss out on a moment of this build-up, which will make the Abu Dhabi Showdown Week 2023 even more entertaining. The Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship (ADXC) arrives with an impressive card for its debut edition, on October 20th at the Mubadala Arena. The most prominent grappling athletes in the world will step into the cage set up in the center of the gym, with the main fight of the evening featuring two MMA stars who have Jiu-Jitsu as a strong foundation in their careers. In the last bout of the event, black belts Neiman Gracie and Ben Henderson will face each other.

NEIMAN GRACIE vs. BEN HENDERSON – THE MATCHUP

The duel was chosen by the organization to symbolize the strength of grappling and how Jiu-Jitsu transcends traditional competitive environments, leading the gentle art to dominate outside the mats as well. Neiman and Bendo will have the chance to show their technical and submission-focused style in a no-gi superfight, with a ruleset similar to the one used in MMA tournaments, where the points are counted individually in each of the five rounds of three minutes. The battle will be in the welterweight division and closes the event, which will also feature a co-main event and ten more super fights.

Neiman Gracie
Neiman Gracie carries with him the responsibility of representing the most famous family in international Jiu-Jitsu every time he fights. A Jiu-Jitsu black belt, son of master Marcio Stambowsky, Neiman is one of Renzo Gracie’s most dedicated pupils, having gotten a taste for fighting while living on the famous blue mats of his master’s academy, in New York.

An MMA athlete, Neiman is a Bellator fighter and has an impressive record of nine victories by submission, out of the 12 in his resumé, holding the record for most submissions in his weight division. In Jiu-Jitsu, he has appeared on the podium of the most prestigious events with and without the gi. Neiman arrives at ADXC to show not only the strength of the Gracie family in the Abu Dhabi cage but also to prove once again the efficiency of the Jiu-Jitsu that has been his legacy from birth.

Ben Henderson

Ben Henderson is a former UFC and WEC champion, with stints at Bellator and numerous main events throughout his successful MMA career. A wrestling specialist, he has been a Jiu-Jitsu black belt since 2013 and used a lot of his knowledge of the mats in MMA, taking eight of his 30 victories in the cage through submissions, all via the neck with his tight guillotines and rear-naked choke adjustments. After venturing into grappling duels, with and without the gi, Ben Henderson joins the impressive ADXC card to make his debut within the organization, using his Jiu-Jitsu and cage experience in Abu Dhabi.

To further heat up the debut night of the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship (ADXC), the organization included an old rivalry in its gi main event. In a fight in the middleweight division, Isaque Bahiense and Gustavo Batista are once again facing each other, but this time the AJP was able to turn up the rivalry between the champions even more.

The gi duel will take place in the ADCX cage, over five three-minute rounds. Even though the submission can define the winner at any moment of the fight, the score per round, defined by the side judges, will bring even more desire to show their abilities the best they can.

Furthermore, the absence of safety areas or room for escape makes the cage work another factor to be considered in the classic duel between Isaque and Gustavo. Isaque Bahiense, leader and athlete representing DreamArt, arrives to compete against Gustavo with two Abu Dhabi World Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship titles in his career. Gustavo, an elite athlete from Atos Jiu-Jitsu, a team captained by André Galvão, has the notorious AJP King of Mats title on his resumé.

Dueling on the AJP mats, Isaque came out winning twice, in the final of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Rio in 2017, and at the Abu Dhabi World Pro in 2018. Gustavo, in turn, won the AJP King of Mats title in 2019 by overcoming Isaque in the final match of the event.

ADXC will have 13 fights on its card, with the gi main event between Isaque Bahiense and  Gustavo Batista, in addition to the no-gi main event that closes the debut event, featuring MMA stars Neiman Gracie and Ben Henderson. Brazilian jiu-jitsu set the tone of Bellator 196, held April 6th in Budapest, Hungary. Out of the six fights on the card, three were decided via submission — including the main event, pitting lightweights Ben Henderson and Roger Huerta against each other.

Henderson had his black belt with him, printed on his shorts. Though this fight could have gone for five rounds, it was clear from the get-go that the two fighters were in no mood for a long one. Right away, Henderson kicked Huerta’s head and threw punches, cutting his nose. Then Henderson took Huerta down and made attempts at a leg lock and a guillotine, which Huerta defended well against.

Having dominated the first round, Henderson came back strong. He trapped his opponent next to the fence and while still standing, lassoed Huerta’s neck. After making adjustments, Henderson pulled guard and squeezed the guillotine further, achieving the win 49 seconds after the start of round 2.

O Jiu-Jitsu ditou o ritmo do Bellator 196, evento exibido com exclusividade pelos canais Fox Sports na noite dessa sexta-feira, dia 6 de abril, em Budapeste, na Hungria. Três das seis lutas do card de MMA terminaram por finalização, inclusive a luta principal, na qual o conhecido Ben Henderson pegou Roger Huerta em duelo na divisão dos pesos leves.

Bendo levou consigo a faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu, estampada na bermuda que lutou, para enfrentar o também veterano Huerta em disputa programada para cinco assaltos. Contudo, o primeiro round já mostrava que a peleja não se estenderia tanto. Logo no início, Henderson acelerou Huerta com um belo chute na cabeça e socos que lhe abriram um ferimento no nariz. Em seguida, Henderson quedou e tentou um leglock seguido de uma guilhotina, devidamente defendidos por Huerta. Após domínio total do primeiro assalto, o americano voltou embalado para a segunda etapa com fome de vitória.

Nos primeiros minutos do segundo round, Henderson voltou a adotar postura agressiva, travou o adversário próximo a grade e laçou ainda em pé o pescoço de Huerta. Após ajustar, Henderson pulou na guarda e arrochou mais uma vez a guilhotina, para conseguir a vitória aos 49s da etapa.

Outros destaques ficaram para o mata-leão de Norbert Novenyi sobre Mehmet Yueksel, e para a guilhotina de Brian Moore sobre Giorgio Belsanti.

Entramos em semana de ação no Bellator. Após um grande evento em março, a próxima sexta-feira, dia 6 de abril, reserva forte emoções para o fã de MMA que está ligado nos canais Fox Sports. Na luta principal do Bellator 196, direto de Budapeste, na Hungria, Benson Henderson encara Roger Huerta.

Ben Henderson, velho conhecido dos amantes do MMA com grandes conquistas na carreira, já figurou também no ADCC e é faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu. Mas quem pensa que Huerta será presa fácil para o americano no solo está enganado.

Veterano no MMA com 15 anos de experiência nos cages, Huerta passou pelas maiores organizações de MMA do mundo, e volta ao Bellator após oito anos para reconquistar seu lugar ao sol na organização, em duelo que pode catapultar seu nome entre os pesos leves.

Fight to Win Pro reached its 37th installment last Friday with an explosive main event between former lightweight UFC champion Benson Henderson and no-gi BJJ world champion AJ Agazarm. Bendo walked out with a win via unanimous decision.

AJ started attempting a flying triangle, competently foiled by Henderson. Henderson later almost sank a guillotine. In the end, Henderson’s takedown defenses kept him out of trouble and gave him the win.

In the co-main event, Gracie Barra’s Flavio “Cachorrinho” Almeida defeated Diogo Araújo by unanimous decision.

A bela Mackenzie Dern, faixa-preta número um no ranking da IBJJF, conseguiu mais um prêmio para sua gigante coleção.

A atleta da Gracie Humaitá venceu a luta principal do Fight to Win Pro 12, realizado no último sábado, dia 17, no Arizona, EUA.

Outra fera que se deu bem no evento foi o ex-UFC Ben Henderson, que também é faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu.

Mackenzie teve pela frente a dura Talita Alencar (GFTeam), em duelo de kimono. A luta foi franca, com ataques frenéticos de ambas as partes. No fim das contas, a filha de Megaton sagrou-se vencedora, na decisão dos árbitros.

Bendo, por sua vez, encarou Jay Hades (Caio Terra) na luta co-principal. No combate, melhor para o atleta do MMA, que conseguiu chegar nas costas e finalizar o oponente num justo mata-leão.

Outros destaques ficaram para as vitórias dos faixa-pretas Diogo Moreno (Soulfighters) sobre Daniel Hampton (Power MMA), e de Carlos Farias sobre JJ Pugsley (Factory X).

The athlete from Gracie Humaitá won the main event of Fight to Win Pro 12, held last Saturday, the 17th, in Arizona, USA.

Mackenzie faced Talita Alencar (GFTeam) in a gi duel. The fight was exciting, with many attacks on both sides. In the end, the daughter of Wellington Megaton was the winner in the judges’ decision.

Another champion who had a great performance at the event was the former UFC fighter Ben Henderson, who is also a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu. Bendo faced Jay Hades (Caio Terra) in the co-main event and won the fight after taking Hades’ back and finishing with a rear naked choke.

Other highlights were the victories of the black belts Diogo Moreno (Soulfighters) over Daniel Hampton (Power MMA), and Carlos Farias on JJ Pugsley (Factory X).

Foi no UFC 164, em Milwaukee. Ben Henderson, dono da cinta dos leves, esperava TJ Grant, enquanto Pettis, anteriormente, estava escalado para enfrentar Jose Aldo pelo cinturão dos penas. Uma lesão de Pettis o tirou do duelo contra Aldo, mas com Grant também lesionado, Pettis foi escolhido para enfrentar Bendo em duelo pelo título.

O combate era esperado para os golpes plásticos de Pettis, e o jogo justo do grappler faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu Bendo. Contudo, foi uma chave de braço do então faixa-azul Pettis que definiu a disputa.

Os caminhos do MMA vão mudando do seu curso óbvio com a evolução do mercado. Um bom exemplo foi anunciado nesta segunda-feira, dia 1 de fevereiro, com a ida de Ben Henderson para o Bellator.

Ex-campeão peso leve da organização, com três defesas de título e vitórias importantes sobre Frankie Edgar (de quem roubou a cinta), Nate Diaz e Gilbert Melendez, Benson vai para o principal rival do Ultimate para trilhar até o cinturão, caminho este que estava tortuoso em sua organização anterior, com a derrota que sofreu para o atual campeão, Rafael dos Anjos, e a chegada de Conor McGregor, que luta pelo cinturão no dia 5 de março.

Bendo (23v, 5d), que é faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu com participações em torneios da IBJJF e do ADCC, vinha de duas vitórias no UFC, mas entraves contratuais ajudaram o atleta a decidir fazer a mudança para o Bellator. O atleta revelou a troca em nota oficial veiculada em sua página oficial, sem deixar de agradecer Dana White e os irmãos Fertitta,
