Standout striker Thiago Michel is now all set to show his skillset outside his native Brazil, as the 27-year-old Ely Kickboxing representative has just signed with US promotion Bellator.

His debut in the event is set for October. Bellator, currently the biggest event not owned by UFC parent company Zuffa, is broadcast on MTV2 in the United States and via sattelite in Brazil. If left up to Thiago, who holds two international kickboxing titles, will surely be looking to keep the action in his promotional debut standing, to showcase his famed striking game. The fighter holds a record of eight wins and two losses in MMA, as well as another 28 victories in all-striking events.

“Now I’m looking to train three times what I did and keep focused in order to represent my team well abroad. I’m really pleased to have progressed and made it to where I am today. This is just the beginning,” he vows.

Destaque de Belo Horizonte (MG), Thiago Michel carimbou o passaporte para mostrar seu talento em terras estrangeiras. Recentemente, o atleta da Ely Kickboxing, de 27 anos, assinou contrato com o evento americano Bellator.

A estreia no evento está prevista para outubro. O Bellator, que segue como a organização não controlada pela Zuffa mais forte nos EUA, é transmitido pela MTV2, nos Estados Unidos, e via satélite no Brasil. Se depender de Thiago, que detém títulos internacionais de kikcboxing, a expectativa é de desferir os golpes certeiros que lhe deram fama. O lutador conta com oito vitórias (duas derrotas) no MMA, além de 28 vitórias em eventos de trocação.

“Minha perspectiva agora é treinar triplicado e sempre ter o pé no chão para poder representar bem a minha equipe no exterior. Estou feliz por ter conseguido avançar pelo mérito do meu trabalho e ter chegado até aonde cheguei. Isso é só o início”, promete.

Acontece no dia 23 de julho, no Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, a 14ª edição do WOCS, evento organizado por Otávio Tatá e Phillip Lima. Os organizadores anunciam duas mudanças no card que, apesar das baixas, não perde força, com feras como Luis Beição, Paulo Rambinho, Alexandre Baixinho e Arthur Gogó, entre outros.

“Thiago Michel teve sua participação cancelada, pois foi recentemente contratado pelo evento americano Bellator. Tentávamos arrumar um atleta substituto para Claudiere Freitas, quando o mesmo nos informou que havia quebrado o dedo da mão nesta semana, sendo assim, resolvemos cancelar esse combate. Aproveitamos para anunciar que o atleta Julio Cesar Merenda, que iria enfrentar o lutador Mauricio Deltinha, foi substituido pelo seu companheiro de treino Tiago Marreta. Merenda sofreu uma lesão no joelho esquerdo e talvez tenha que fazer uma operação no mesmo”, explica Tatá.

“Acreditamos que, apesar das baixas sofridas de última hora, o card continua com excelentes atletas que farão lutas sensacionais, lembrando que teremos ainda a disputa do cinturão no peso até 66 kg entre Bob Esponja e Mauricio Facção”, encerra Phillip.

Event promoters Tatá Duarte and Phillip Lima are getting ready for WOCS 14. The show, held with the backing of Neonutri, will take place July 23 in Rio de Janeiro city.

Bouts like the all-striker matchup between Thiago Michel and Claudiere Freitas and one-time UFC fighter Alexandre Baixinho against Paulo Rambinho have already been announced, while Shooto and WOCS welterweight GP champion Luis Paulo Beição is tipped to be on the card, although his opponent hasn’t been named yet. Also featured is Lucas Bob Esponja’s title defense against Minas Gerais native Mauricio Facção.

This Monday the event’s organizers confirmed the location and nearly all the fights on the card…

“The card is almost fully ready, we just need to seal Beição’s fight. The card will be packed with electrifying fights and I’m certain the public will show up at Flamengo club in full force,” said Phillip Lima.

Os organizadores Tatá Duarte e Phillip Lima preparam o WOCS 14. O show, em parceria da Neonutri acontece no dia 23 de julho, na Zona Sul do Rio de Janeiro.

Já foram anunciados confrontos como o entre os strikers Thiago Michel e Claudiere Freitas, o do ex-UFC Alexandre Baixinho contra Paulo Rambinho e a confirmação do campeão mundial do Shooto e do GP 77kg do WOCS Luis Paulo Beição, ainda sem adversário definido. Também está confirmada a defesa de cinturão do atleta Lucas Bob Esponja contra o mineiro Mauricio Facção.

Nesta segunda-feira, a organização do evento confirmou o local e quase todas as lutas do show. .

“O card está quase todo pronto, só falta fechar a luta do Beição. Teremos um card com lutas eletrizantes e tenho certeza que o público irá comparecer no clube do Flamengo para prestigiar mais essa edição”, fala Phillip Lima.

Following a marathon of three shows in three weeks back to back, promoters Tatá Duarte and Phillip Lima are already setting up WOCS 14. The show being put together in partnership with Neonutry company will take place on July 23 at a yet-to-be-decided venue in Rio de Janeiro.

“We’re getting ready for the next installment and we’ll bring excellent bouts for the crowd back in our home of Rio de Janeiro. There’ll be an all-striker showdown between Thiago Michel and Claudiere Freitas that’s sure to be a thriller. Ex-UFC fighter Alexandre Baixinho will face Paulo Rambinho, who’s coming off a win. And we’ll have our under-77kg champion Luis Paulo Beição, whose opponent we haven’t decided on yet. And there’ll also be Lucas Bob Esponja’s title defense against Minas Gerais native Mauricio Facção, which was supposed to have taken place at WOCS 12, in Juiz de for a,” says Phillip.

“I feel the event is bringing together the best of domestic MMA, and we feel the next show will be nothing less than a success. I’d like to thank the people who make these events possible, like Rip Dorey and Punch, who’ve been backing us,” adds Tatá.

Depois da maratona de eventos com três edições em três semanas seguidas, os organizadores Tatá Duarte e Phillip Lima já preparam o WOCS 14. O show, em parceria da Neonutry, acontece no dia 23 de julho, na Zona Sul do Rio de Janeiro, em local ainda a ser definido.

“Já estamos preparando a próxima edição e traremos excelentes lutas para o público, retornando à nossa casa, o Rio de Janeiro. Teremos o confronto entre os strikers Thiago Michel e Claudiere Freitas, que promete ser muito empolgante. O ex-UFC Alexandre Baixinho encara Paulo Rambinho, que vem de vitória. E teremos o nosso campeão até 77 kg, Luis Paulo Beição, ainda sem adversário definido, além da defesa de cinturão do atleta Lucas Bob Esponja contra o mineiro Mauricio Facção, luta que era para ter acontecido no evento em Juiz de Fora, no WOCS 12”, conta Phillip.

“Acho que o evento está colocando o que há de melhor hoje no MMA nacional para lutar e não esperamos nada além de mais uma edição de muito sucesso, queria agradecer as pessoas que tornam possível esses acontecimentos, como a Rip Dorey e Punch, que sempre nos apóiam”, completa Tátá.

Nas lutas casadas, destaque para Rogério Paraíba, que finalizou Leandro Gontijo com um mata-leão. A luta era bem aguardada pelo clima tenso na pesagem. Já o mineiro Matheus Pereira venceu Fernandinho Souza por interrupção médica, após boa sequência de socos que resultaram num corte no supercílio. Também agitou o público a luta feminina. Nela, Juliana Lima, conhecida como Ju Thai, não deu chance a adversária Dayana. Catigou com fortes golpes e quedas, vencendo por decisão unânime.

No confronto Minas vs Bahia, destaque para a luta de Thiago Michel. Apoiado pela torcida mineira, aplicou uma boa sequência de chutes e socos no final do round inicial. Seu adversário, Erick Parrudo, não teve condições de retornar.

A superioridade mineira continuou com Marcelo Uirapuru, que seguiu a estratégia dada, via telefone por seu professor, Vinícius Draculino, que mora nos EUA. Uirapuru quedou num giro rápido e finalizou Renato Castro numa justa guilhotina. Além disso, o mineiro Vinicius Bohrer finalizou Iuri Terrorista com um katagatame e Fred Bad Boy venceu Anderson Dedo por decisão unânime. A única vitória dos baianos veio com Jurandir Sardinha, que derrotou Gustavo Coelho por decisão unânime dos juízes, com vantagem nos rounds finais.

Aconteceu nesta sexta-feira, no hotel Sol Belo Horiozonte, a pesagem do Brasil Fight 4. O evento acontece em Nova Lima, cidade que fica ao lado de Belo Horizonte, na casa de shows La Differenza.

Neste sábado, com transmissão ao vivo pelo Canal Combate, os lutadores de Minas Gerais encaram as feras da Bahia. Entre os ídolos locais no desafio, estarão em ação Gustavo Coelho, Marcelo Uirapuru e Thiago Michel. Mas a noite vip ainda vai contar com lutas casadas, numa delas o desafio feminino entre Ju Thai e Dayana.

Thiago Michel confirma o favoritismo no muay thai em noite de muita trocação no Torneio dos Campeões, em São Paulo, no último sábado. A fera da Ely kickboxing venceu Maycon Oller. Em 5 rounds bem movimentados, variando com joelhadas, socos e chutes diversos, o resultado veio por decisão unânime dos juízes.

“Maycon é um oponente duro, com uma ótima resistência e boa variação de golpes. Ele proporcionou um bom duelo e valorizou mais a minha vitória”, comenta Thiago.

O lutador vem de derrota no MMA, no Brasil Fight, mas segue também como uma das apostas na modalidade.

The international fight was an evenly matched affair. While black belt Gustavo Coelho tried to make use of his Jiu-Jitsu, Miguel pressed him against the fencing and attacked with knees to his opponent’s legs. Coelho managed to get the takedown, but Miguel defended well and sunk a kimura that looked like it could snap Coelho’s arm. In the end the panel of judges handed the Spaniard the split decision win.

At the first installment of Brasil Fight the visitors won by 4 to 1. Again the hometown fighters in Minas didn’t have it easy, but they came out on top. In the first bout of the international dispute, Cesar Gordim (MG) had the better time in the standup department against Fabiano “Bob Sponja” (RJ). Bob managed to get the takedown, but when trying for a footlock, he ended up letting his opponent get on top, from where Gordim launched a salvo of strikes to win by technical knockout. Eduardo Ratinho (RJ) faced off with Maurício Facção (MG), after a good deal of provocation exchanged between them in the build-up to the show. Ratinho went all out in his attacks and scored a knockdown right off the bat. The 18-year-old also did a good job on the ground and led on the scorecards in the first two rounds. In the final round Facção reacted, but it wasn’t enough, as Ratinho evened the score 1 to 1 with a unanimous decision win.

The third bout pitted two of Brazilian MMA’s top strikers, kickboxing champion Thiago Michel (MG) and Luiz Alves student Felipe Olivieiri (RJ). Michel got the better of the standup exchanges, connecting with solid kicks. Visibly tired in the third round, Felipe took further kicks before a cut on his mouth obliged the referee to end the bout.

“Now I’m going to eat pizza, açaí and cookies!” said Michel in celebration.

In further extending the home team’s lead, Joaquim Mamute nearly let his fight with Marcelo Oliveira (RJ) slip through his fingers. He tried an armbar and ended up on bottom, where he nearly was finished by a painful looking kimura. But in the seconds round the black belt’s Jiu-Jitsu prevailed. He secured the takedown, passed guard and got the tapout with a north-south choke. “I tried for the armbar, but he’s 20 kg heavier than me, a tough guy. You have to stick to chokes against big guys,” he professes.

Next up was another Jiu-Jitsu stylist extending Minas Gerais’ lead, with Erik Wanderlei taking on striker Eduardo Camaleão (RJ). Wanderlei did well in defending against the strikes and managed the takedown. Once on the ground he passed guard, put his knee on his opponent’s belly and mounted, from where he rained down strikes till the ref stepped in. Igor Chatubinha (RJ) reduced the home team’s lead with his trademark arm-triangle choke over Marcelo Uirapuru (MG) early in the first round. That was enough for his teacher Relma to promote him to brown belt while still in the ring.

One of the most heavily anticipated bouts had Bruno Carioca (RJ) in a showdown with Cristiano Titi. It was an even affair, but two knockdowns earned Carioca the unanimous decision after three rounds. But Bruno’s win wasn’t enough, and Minas Gerais took the interstate dispute 4 to 3.
