It’s the day after a tough tournament.

Win or lose, the mental and physical demands of a competition will always take a toll on you.

So, what do you do: rest, work on your mistakes or train like any other day?

The 2013 no-gi world champion Laercio Fernandes shared some of his experience to help you deal with the dilemma.

According to Laercio: “It depends on which tournament you do and how long you’ve been focused and how stressful it was for you.”

Here are the three options.

1-Rest: “There is nothing wrong with taking the day off. Be true to yourself and think about if you’re really tired (physically and mentally). Also if you have family, you definitely should spend time with your family. Remember that no matter what happened in the tournament because during this time (training and competing) they support you. Now is the time to support them.”

2 Drill: “Sometimes the result is not what we want, so on the other day I like to review not only my mistakes, but also new details I picked up competing or watching other compete.”

3- Work More: “Sometimes I go back to the gym and workout more, because I know my performance should have been much better, or because I need to keep the rhythm for upcoming tournaments.”

So, what do you do after a tough competition?

Laercio, who trains under and represents both Rubens Cobrinha Charles and Giva Santana, has been training Jiu-Jitsu since he was eleven years old. Throughout his trek to the black belt elite level where he stands now, he worked and studied meticulously.

After a day’s work, he would train and then find time to study before waking up and repeating the cycle. His persistence earned him a master’s degree in engineering as well as the ability to manage a high-level career while winning gold medals at high-level championships.

The studious approach to his studies as well as his Jiu-Jitsu earned him a place on the podium at every major tournament he entered since 2010. In 2012 he placed second at the World Championship missing the gold by a referee decision against Guiherme Mendes. At the 2012 BJJ Pro League he suffered the same fate, this time against Caio Terra.

This year Laercio aims to secure the gold in the four-man bracket in the same way he became both European Champion and No-Gi World Champion for 2013.

The sport of Jiu-Jitsu is constantly evolving with new “crop” coming up the ranks. We often see competitors who stand out due to their extraordinary efforts and results be it from blue belt or black, rooster to ultra-heavy. The most recent known case is that of the Miyao brothers from Cicero Costha, Joao and Paulo who have shown through extreme dedication and passion that becoming champions is possible even against the largest opponents on the biggest stages.

With their recent promotion to black belt after earning three gold medals at brown belt between the two of them at the 2013 Worlds, we wanted to see from those who have faced them and those who will, what they think about their chances. From fresh brown belts to world champion, seasoned black belts, here were the responses along with the role they have or will play in the Miyaos’ Jiu-Jitsu journey.

Marcio Andre, who gained his brown belt at the 2013 Worlds after winning the purple belt featherweight division, has gone against the Miyao brothers multiple times at blue and purple belt. He even sent a video technique to GRACIEMAG offering a way to defend the berimbolo. Since the brothers were promoted before Marcio had a chance to face them at brown belt, he won’t have a chance to go against them for awhile however he isn’t worried about it. He says, “There are still trials and other events that put brown belts and black belts together.” All in all, he gives his congratulations to the brothers and says, “Anyone can see that they are really dedicated and go after their goals. So, the new belt was very well deserved and for sure they will have a lot of success in their new belt rank.”

Another brown belt who was able to match up against the Miyaos but in the open weight divisions is 2013 brown belt heavyweight world champion Jackson Souza. His opportunities to defend their berimbolo and back-taking offenses came at the 2012 Brazilian Nationals No-Gi when he defeated Paulo making him another to speak on their skills and after facing Joao at the 2013 Europeans. He says, “The Miyaos will give all the black belts a hard time. They are very dedicated and live for training, I don’t see anyone training more than them!! They will do great. Congrats to the Miyaos.”

Garry Tonon from New Jersey had his chance to face Joao Miyao in a submission-only tournament a week after the Worlds. Feeling his opportunity wasn’t the best form for him to test his skills against them, he put up a challenge involving $1,000 coming from each and a submission-only situation aimed towards Paulo. The offer is still up in the air with no definitive plans but he says of the brothers, “Congratulations to both Paulo and Joao. Their dedication to their craft is matched by few. They will be excellent black belts, and give many a difficult time in competition. Based on my match with Joao, and watching their other matches, I think their biggest challenge at black belt will be opponents with a more well rounded game and experience defending berimbolo. Can’t wait for my sub only super-fight against Paulo, should give me some more first person perspective on these warriors!”

As far as the black belts, the light-feather, feather and lightweights will now have a chance to see what the popular brothers are capable of since both Joao and Paulo choose to fight in various weight divisions.

Carlos ‘Esquisito’ Holanda is a five-time Worlds medalist at black belt light-feather under the CheckMat banner. With a light-hearted response and no ego he is ready for the Miyaos giving GRACIEMAG the statement, “Surely today they are an icon for the Jiu-Jitsu world and it will be a pleasure to fight with them. I am already preparing myself (laughs).”

Light-featherweight Laercio Fernandes, who came in second at the 2012 Worlds in the light-featherweight division and has been a force ever since, gives support to the Miyaos. He knows what being at a new rank brings, especially at black belt. He says, “First congratulations to them for the promotion. I think they will bring more emotion for the fans and fighters because they are starting a new journey for themselves and therefore they are hungry to be champion at black belt.”

Perhaps one person who can be considered a great match-up for the berimbolo-ing duo is that of multiple-time world champion in gi and no-gi, Caio Terra. A natural rooster weight, he competes in both rooster and light-featherweight divisions regularly as well as the open weight divisions. He has constantly proven his abilities to both smaller and larger guys, traveling the world for seminars and competing along the way at any chance he can get. His opinion of the Miyaos can be valued at least in terms of what they have accomplished so far and what we can expect they will try in the near future regarding winning championships in their divisions and the absolutes as smaller individuals.

He offers his comments: “They are super talented and they are very hungry to become world champions [at black belt]. They are definitely a threat to the guys in the light-feather division but the level of brown belts is very weak compared to black. I think they will frustrate a lot of top black belts but they aren’t going to dominate yet because the light-feather division has maybe the most competitive division right now as its the most unpredictable category. Maybe in a few years if they stay hungry for medals they might dominate but they need experience first. But again, it’s all very hard to predict because by then other talented kids may come. It’s not easy to become a champion, I just hope that if they do, they become good champions with the purpose of evolving the sport and changing people’s lives.”

The thirteenth reasons for supporting the 2013 World Championships is mostly for the spectators. Of course we can always learn from watching, the matches can also be pure entertainment. In this case, athletes shifting weight classes has something to do with that.

Reason #13: See new or rare match-ups from top athletes as they move weight classes.

Most of the time, competitors stay at the same weight class. Occasionally you will see athletes moving one or two or even a few as if to say they want a new challenge. But the top champions in one weight class tend to stay within their conquered divisions year after year.

This year one of the bigger moves by a champion is that of Caio Terra. We’ve seen the rooster weight compete as light feather many times before and we’ve seen him win in that category as well. He even competes in open classes and wins as the lightest guy to enter. But at the prestigious world championships he stays in his rooster division where his main opponent has always been Bruno Malfacine. Caio Terra has so far signed up as a light feather and although he mentioned that he could potentially still go back down to his home at rooster, he is competing in the higher division.

In this article he coaxes Bruno Malfacine to follow his footsteps and join the light feather division as well. There hasn’t been any confirmations, but we very well could see Malfacine in the mix as well leaving rooster weight so that others like Fabbio Passos, Felipe Costa, Rafael Freitas, Brandon Mullins and other natives can take their place in the finals. Malfacine is also one to move up to light feather at times, such as Pan Ams 2012 when he won the division.

Light feather has competitors like Guilherme Mendes who has been champion there three times as a black belt in 2009, 2011 and 2012. But he’s not the only threat in the division. Laercio Fernandes, Samuel Braga, Carlos Holanda Vieira, Samir Chantre just to name a few reside in the light feather category who can give both Caio and Bruno a good fight. Although these match-ups have happened before such as Laercio and Caio, Bruno and Guilherme and in both cases the rooster weights have won.

In the 2013 Pan, which ended last Sunday in Irvine, Calif., another chapter was written in the Jiu-Jitsu saga for brothers Rafael and Guilherme Mendes.

The brothers, who used to close out the featherweight since they were young, now fight in different weight divisions. At featherweight, in a tough match decided by the referees, Rafael defeated Rubens Cobrinha. During the fight, it was 2-2.

Rafa talked about the conquest with GracieMag reporter Ivan Trindade:

“When time was up, the only certainty I had was that I had given my best in the fight,” ” said the younger Mendes. “I tried to attack all the time to leave no doubt to the referees. Cobrinha also fought very well, and thank God we did another excellent final. And that’s it, a final with an opponent with the level of Cobrinha will always be decided in detail. This time he made no mistakes.”

Asked about the sweep he suffered, and which drew the fight, Rafa said, “Actually, I anticipated and threw myself down to defend his attack. I study my opponents a lot, I see the struggles and I knew Cobrinha makes a very good sweep when he holds the sleeve between the legs of the opponent. When I saw that he was almost able to do it, I threw myself down to try to counter-attack and go to his back.”

Rafael also spoke about the taste of winning in front of friends and students in California.

“I was very happy with the victory and the chance to prove to everyone that, with discipline and focus, you can still be a professor, engage with the students in the gym, train hard and be a champion,” he said. “The year 2013 has been perfect. Our kids team was champion in IBJJF Pan Kids, and after, Gui and I won the Houston Open and the San Francisco Open, and now the Pan! The training is in full swing for the Worlds and ADCC in Beijing.”

Guilherme Mendes competed in light feather, where he won the final with Laércio Fernandes with a score of 4-2. Gui spoke about the difficulty of lowering his weight.

“The diet is no longer a big deal,” said the black belt under Ramon Lemos. “In each victory, I have even more reasons to fight. The feeling is of accomplishment, and I feel all our hard training is worthwhile. The gold rewards any suffering.

“All the positions I had been honing were perfect. I will continue the training and plan to be at my best in the Worlds. I want to win my fourth black belt title, and I know it won’t be easy!

“As a team, we almost reached the top in adults. We lost (behind Alliance) by just two points. We will arrive with the strongest team for the World Championship, because our goal is first place.”

O domingo, dia 24 de março, entrou para a história dos Pans de Jiu-Jitsu graças a batalhas finais épicas.

O Pan 2013 no pacote completo foi muito mais emocionante que uma luta apenas. Mas houve destaques. Como a vitória de Marcus Buchecha contra André Galvão no absoluto. E o empate extasiante de Rafa Mendes e Rubens Cobrinha. Ou a virada de Clark Gracie na final dos médios, em cima de um impressionante Marcelo Lapela, que acabou apagado num estrangulamento a 9min34s de luta.

A faixa-preta foi tão eletrizante que ofuscou os excelentes faixas-marrons em Irvine, como o absoluto Keenan Cornelius e o vice-absoluto Paulo Miyao, campeão no peso-pena. Cornelius venceu Miyao por apenas uma vantagem no encerramento do domingão.

Confira, a seguir, os melhores momentos do evento da IBJJF que fecharam o domingo da elite. Afinal, se no sábado e na manhã dominical a coisa tinha ficado quente, nas finais o caldo derramou.

Absoluto: Buchecha esbanja criatividade contra Galvão

Na final do absoluto, Buchecha começou a vencer André Galvão com uma contraqueda. Mas o melhor estava por vir, pois o aluno de Rodrigo Cavaca tentou uma chave de ombro que deixou Galvão todo torto. Depois, Marcus não se abalou com uma queda linda de Galvão, que abraçou com uma cinturada e um ganchinho antológico. Mal caiu, Buchecha foi para a omoplata e fez o oponente alçar voo. No fim, 4 a 2 e uma aula de Jiu-Jitsu que, sentimos muito, a descrição não faz jus aos dois atletas. Lutaço.

Pesadíssimo: Buchecha goleia dinamarquês por 7 a 0

O primeiro campeão foi a fera Marcus Bochecha (CheckMat). O paulista encarou Alexander Trans na final, e passou a excelente meia-guarda do dinamarquês. Depois, montou e trabalhou o estrangulamento, mas Trans defendeu bem. No fim, vitória por 7 a 0.

Meio-pesado: André Galvão fecha com Guto Campos

No meio-pesado, a final foi fechada por André Galvão e Guto Campos, ambos representante da equipe Atos. O caminho de ambos no entanto foi uma pedreira. Galvão finalizou Renato Cardoso (CheckMat) e Tarsis Humphreys (Alliance) como se isso fosse fácil. Já o gaúcho da Guetho fez algo talvez tão complicado: foi capaz de passar a guarda de Rominho Barral duas vezes, para vencer a semifinal.

Peso-galo: Caio Terra confunde Bruno Malfacine

A disputa do peso-galo foi menos uma guerra e mais um jogo de xadrez. Caio Terra tinha uma tática bem definida: confundir o pentacampeão mundial e surpreender. Para tal, puxou para a guarda, agarrou o pé direito de Bruno Malfacine e não largou mais, deixando o atleta da Alliance sempre desconfortável, sem alicerce para firmar base e botar pressão. Com as pernas emboladíssimas, Caio Terra subiu e ganhou os dois pontos. Não houve tempo para Bruno decifrar como escapar da teia.

Pluma: Gui Mendes confirma favoritismo contra Laércio

No peso-pluma, as guardas elásticas de Guilherme Mendes (Atos) e Laércio Fernandes (Lotus Club/Alliance) entraram em rota de colisão. Depois de as feras ficarem agarradas na guarda 50/50, Gui conseguiu tombar Laércio e abrir 2 a 0, restando três minutos. O popular Lalá não se abateu e conseguiu raspar de volta. Apesar de estar na frente nas vantagens, Gui tratou de garantir a vitória nos pontos. Quase no finzinho, o mais velho dos Mendes usou a elasticidade e raspou para vencer por 4 a 2. E correu para ver de camarote o irmão lutar com Cobrinha.

Pena: Rafa Mendes vence na decisão unânime em luta de tirar o fôlego

Pelo peso-pena, a final foi a mesma de sempre, com os altamente técnicos Rubens Cobrinha (Alliance) e Rafael Mendes (Atos). Rafa começou chamando Cobrinha para a guarda, e trabalhado dali conseguiu dominar e tirar a base da fera da Alliance para raspar sem perder tempo. O experiente Cobrinha não deixou se abater e surpreendeu: depois de se livrar do embolo e dos perigos tentados por Mendes, puxou para a guarda-aranha.E devolveu os dois pontos com uma linda raspagem, chutando Rafa com estilo e deixando tudo igual. Por baixo, Rafa procurou raspar Rubens até o último segundo, mas este não caiu. A luta terminou empatada e na decisão dos juízes Rafael Mendes levou a melhor, com os votos dos três árbitros.

Peso leve: Michael Langhi retorna ao Pan e fecha com Lepri de novo

Michael Langhi e Lucas Lepri (Alliance) dominaram o peso leve e fecharam a categoria. Para chegarem lá, Langhi raspou JT e Lepri passou por Vinicius Marinho.

Peso médio: Clark Gracie apaga oponente no último minuto

Nos médios, Clark Gracie mostrou que sua omoplata está afiada. Mas Marcelo “Lapela” Mafra havia percebido isso no decorrer do campeonato, ao ver o Gracie eliminar Otavio Sousa e DJ Jackson. Marcelo então usou a tática que havia dado certo contra Kayron Gracie e com Vitor Henrique: puxou e raspou. Mas Clark Gracie insistiu até o fim e foi premiado. Por cima, tentou passar, viu a oportunidade da omoplata e a encaixou. Com o braço de Lapela preso, o Gracie escorregou e puxou a gola, a 26s do fim. A posição estava tão ajustada que Lapela, que não quis bater, dormiu.

Pesado: Roberto Tussa mostra base e vence Nivaldo

As pedreiras Roberto Tussa (Gracie Barra) e Nivaldo Oliveira (CheckMat) mediram força na final dos pesados. Tussa havia finalizado Paulo Tarcísio, e o amigo da CheckMat veio para tentar a vingança, depois que Lucas Leite o deixou passar. O combate foi bem equilibrado, Nil puxou tentou fisgar uma omoplata mas não teve sucesso. Tussa foi encontrando sua pressão devagar, até que obrigou o faixa-preta da CheckMat virar de quatro apoios e ganhou uma vantagem. No restante da luta, ambos trocavam pegadas para derrubar, até que o professor da Gracie Barra deu um double-leg mas caiu fora. Duas vantagens, e Tussa foi o campeão dos pesados.

Superpesado: Léo Nogueira raspa Gabriel Vella da meia-guarda

Os superpesados Leo Nogueira (Alliance) e Gabriel Vella fizeram uma final digna deste “duelo de gerações”. Léo chamou logo Vella para a meia-guarda e começou a trabalhar a raspagem, mas não teve sucesso com a base sólida de Gabriel. Léo insistiu, se enfiou embaixo do aluno de Ryan Gracie e conseguiu raspar. Com calma, passou e montou. No fim, 8 a 0 e o ouro na bagagem.

Bruno Malfacine fez duas lutas para chegar a final. Na primeira finalizou Takahito Yoshioka no armlock, e depois passou por Felipe Costa. Do outro lado, seu velho e conhecido Caio Terra passou por William Earl e Fabbio Passos.

Final: Gui Mendes vs Laércio Fernandes

Laércio, faixa-preta da Lotus Club que vem treinando com Cobrinha, teve duas batalhas para chegar até a final: venceu Paulo Fernando e depois na semifinal passou por Gustavo Carpio. Gui Mendes finalizou Francielio Fernandes na chave de braço do triângulo e passou pelo novato faixa-preta Thomas Lisboa por pontos, apesar de blitz frenética nas costas.

Final: Rubens Cobrinha vs Rafael Mendes

Rubens Charles, o Cobrinha, passou por Jordan Collins (omoplata), estrangulou Samir Chantre e venceu Augusto Tanquinho nas raspagens da 50-50 para se garantir na final. Já Rafa Mendes pegou o braço de Renato Lima e eliminou o cascudo bicampeão mundial Mario Reis.

Final: Lucas Lepri vs Michael Langhi

Lucas venceu Caio Almeida em seu primeiro compromisso. Depois passou por Marcel Goulart e pegou as costas de Vinicius Marinho para chegar à final. Na outra chave, seu companheiro de equipe Michael Langhi despachou Yoshinobu Kakizawa, Rafael Oliveira  e depois venceu Jonathan Torres em luta parelha, após raspar.

Médio

Final: Clark Gracie vs Marcelo Lapela

A guerra no peso médio pegou fogo, graças à presença dos campeões mundiais Otavio Sousa e Leandro Lo, e do campeão do Pan Kayron Gracie. Mas os favoritos foram ficando pelo caminho e viram novos craques brilharem. De um lado, Marcelo “Lapela” Mafra (CheckMat) despachou Kayron Gracie e Vitor Henrique – que surpreendera Leandro Lo mais cedo.

Do outro, Clark Gracie também fez um campeonato impecável, usando sua guarda para raspar e eliminar Otavio Sousa, nas quartas, e DJ Jackson, na semifinal. As duas lutas foram apertadas no placar.

Meio-pesado

Final: André Galvão vs Guto Campos

No meio-pesado, o finalista do absoluto André Galvão espantou os perigos pelo caminho com autoridade. Finalizou Renato Cardoso nas quartas, e na semi partiu para dentro de Tarsis Humphreys, atacando as costas e no fim arrochando a chave americana.

Do outro lado, Guto Campos venceu Alberto Ramos e fez luta sem brilho contra Diogo Araújo, quando venceu por duas vantagens. O lutador da Guetho parecia estar salvando energias. Contra Rominho Barral, começou devagar, até que num movimento acrobático saiu debaixo do lutador da GB e foi cair do lado. A partir daí, se encheu de confiança e não deixou Barral chegar mais. Passou de novo a guarda, pôs o joelho na barriga, tentou atacar o braço e venceu por oito pontos de diferença. No finzinho Barral partiu para estrangular da meia-guarda, mas não era o seu dia.

Recém-graduado à faixa-preta, o peso-pena Thomas Lisboa é mais um novato que quer fazer barulho em Irvine, no Pan da IBJJF.

O atleta da Alliance está confiante, ainda mais por contar com o auxílio luxuoso de uma das maiores estrelas da arte suave, o peso médio Marcelo Garcia.

“O Pan é o segundo campeonato mais importante da temporada do Jiu-Jitsu, e estou em Nova York treinando com o Marcelinho Garcia. Eu me sinto preparado, e todo dia aprendo alguma coisa nova. Faço dois treinos por dia, um pela manhã e outro de noite. Deixei a preparação física um pouco de lado para experimentar a filosofia de treino do Marcelinho: colocar toda energia no treino de Jiu-Jitsu. Estou treinando com e sem pano de segunda a sexta”, comenta Thomas.

“Meu Jiu-Jitsu é o que eu aprendi com o meu professor Fabio Gurgel e meus amigos de treino. Tento ser completo, jogar por baixo e por cima. Estou tentando melhorar minha base, minha passagem de guarda, mas os defeitos aparecem até onde nos sentimos confortáveis”, explica.

“Essa é a graça do Jiu-Jitsu, o importante é ter a cabeça aberta pra aprender e corrigir. Por exemplo: meu irmão é faixa-roxa e ele sempre me mostra alguma coisa nova. Acho que é desse jeito. Mas na faixa-preta se você erra acabou. É meu objetivo neste Pan: lutar para a frente sem errar. Será uma honra lutar com tantos monstros, o Laércio, Gui Mendes, o Gabriel Wilcox”, encerra.

Prior to the 2013 European Open, Lotus Club black belt Laércio Fernandes promised he’d raise the roof in Lisbon. Said and done. In the light featherweight’s first two matches he took the back and finished in style.

In the final, Laércio, the current world runner-up, defeated CheckMat ace Carlos “Esquisito” Holanda by an advantage point.

“He’s strong and technical. That’s why I knew the match would be won on details, and that’s just what happened. He made a mistake and I scored an advantage for a guard pass. I didn’t manage to stabilize the position, as Carlos defended really well,” added Laércio.

“I need to highlight the training camp I did with [Rubens] Cobrinha in Vigo, Spain. It was sensational. At the European Open I did attacking Jiu-Jitsu, and it worked for me. That guard-pass attempt in the final is something I worked on with Cobrinha,” he added.

The professor at Lotus Club also warned that he’s gunning for gold at the Pan next March. And after that, the goal is the Worlds… But what will he be packing up his sleeve to surprise the current light-featherweight world champion, Gui Mendes?

“My next stop will be the Pan. I’m already training hard for the championship in Irvin and I hope to be in good shape when I get there. After that I’ll go to the Worlds, but I’m not thinking only of Guilherme, as I could end up beating him and then losing to someone else, which wouldn’t do me any good. My objective is to prepare to fight well, and that way victory will come naturally. He’s certainly the favorite, being the world champion and all, but there are a lot of tough guys at light featherweight who have what it takes to win,” said the black belt in closing.

Antes do Europeu de Jiu-Jitsu 2013, o faixa-preta Laércio Fernandes (Lotus Club) prometeu levantar a galera em Lisboa. Dito e feito. O peso-pluma, em suas duas primeiras lutas, pegou as costas e finalizou com estilo.

Na final, Laércio, atual vice-campeão mundial, venceu Carlos “Esquisito” Holanda (CheckMat) por uma vantagem.

“Ele é forte e técnico, por isso sabia que a luta seria vencida nos detalhes, e foi o que aconteceu. Ele cometeu um erro e fiz a vantagem da passagem de guarda. Acabei não estabilizando a posição pois o Carlos defendeu muito bem”, completou Laércio.

“Tenho que destacar o camp que fiz com o (Rubens) Cobrinha em Vigo, na Espanha. Foi sensacional. No Europeu, fiz um Jiu-Jitsu ofensivo e deu certo. Essa tentativa de passagem de guarda da final treinei com o Cobrinha”, completou.

O professor da Lotus Club já avisou que vai buscar o ouro no Pan, em março. E, depois, a meta é o Mundial… Mas o que ele vai preparar para surpreender o atual campeão dos plumas, Gui Mendes?

“Minha próxima parada será o Pan. Já estou treinando forte para o campeonato em Irvine e espero chegar bem. Depois vou ao Mundial, mas não penso somente no Guilherme, pois pode acontecer de eu ganhar dele e perder para outro, e assim eu continuaria na mesma. Meu objetivo é me preparar para lutar bem, e assim a vitória virá naturalmente. Ele certamente é o favorito pois é o atual campeão mundial, mas no pluma tem muito cara bom, que também têm condições de vencer”, concluiu a fera.

O domingo da décima edição do Europeu de Jiu-Jitsu da IBJJF foi uma explosão de técnica e emoções distintas, em Lisboa.

No ginásio do Casal Vistoso, a torcida vibrou e se emocionou com o retorno de Fernando Tererê, vencido por Calasans na final do peso médio. Para chegar até a final, Tererê passou pelo aluno Alan Finfou, que deu a vaga para o professor da Alliance e ainda entregou sua faixa-preta, gesto que emocionou a galera. “Tererê me ensinou tudo desde a faixa-branca, eu disse que assim que ele estivesse de volta e limpo, faria isso de entregar minha faixa a ele”, disse Finfou.

No absoluto, Bernardo Faria e Léo Nogueira fecharam a final no sábado, mas hoje tiveram trajetórias distintas. Bê Faria raspou Lagarto e foi campeão superpesado, mas Nogueira acabou superado pelo dinamarquês Alexander Trans no pesadíssimo, e ficou com o bronze.

O absoluto feminino terminou num anticlímax, já que Michelle Nicolini machucou-se e não lutou com Luanna. Os dois ouros principais em Lisboa ficaram assim com a Alliance, que também venceu o campeonato por equipes.

No peso-pena, Rubens Cobrinha venceu Augusto Tanquinho bonito na final, enquanto os professores da GB Romulo Barral e Rodrigo “Pimpolho” Fajardo não quiseram saber de fechar o meio-pesado. Rominho montou e finalizou Pimpolho com um estrangulamento estiloso.
