Robbie Lawler kept his UFC welterweight belt this past Saturday with a split decision win over Carlos Condit, at UFC 195.

Once again, the ATT fighter displayed a lot of heart in the 5th round of the title bout.

In the highlights video bellow, you can see that 5th-round Lawler is a common occurance.

He showed up in his three last fights, against Condit, McDonald and Hendricks.

They fought one of the most thrilling title bouts in UFC history earlier this year.

Now, welterweight champion Johnny Hendricks and #1 contender Robbie Lawler meet again in a highly anticipated rematch.

The UFC welterweight division Has now a vacant belt.

The champion Georges St. Pierre announced today that he is stepping down and giving away his title.

In a press conference earlier this Friday, St. Pierre justified his decision by saying that he needs some time away from the sport and all the pressure of being the champion.

He promised to be back one day when he feels like it and compete for the belt again.

The UFC quickly moved to set a date for the new champion to be crowned.

Johnny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler will fight for the belt at UFC 171, scheduled March 15, 2014, in Dallas, TX.

GSP has been the welterweight champion since Dec. 29, 2007, when he defeated Matt Hughes at UFC 79.

He defended his title 10 times, the last one being the controversial win over Hendricks last November 16.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has released the list of medical suspensions following UFC 167.

Here they are:

Georges St-Pierre: Suspended until Jan. 1, 2014, and no contact until Dec. 17, 2013.

Johny Hendricks: Suspended until May 17, 2014, with a possible right knee injury unless orthopedic physician clears him to return sooner. Minimum suspension until Dec. 17. 2013, and no contact until Dec. 8, 2013.

Chael Sonnen: Suspended until Jan. 1, 2014, and no contact until Dec. 17, 2013.

Rory MacDonald: Suspended until Dec. 17, 2013, and no contact until Dec. 8, 2013.

Josh Koscheck: Suspended until Jan. 1, 2014, and no contact until Dec. 17, 2013.

Ali Bagautinov: Suspended until May 17, 2014, with a possible left foot injury unless orthopedic physician clears him to return sooner. Minimum suspension until Dec. 17. 2013, and no contact until Dec. 8, 2013.

The Nevada Athletic Commission has released the salaries of each fighter that competed at the UFC 167, last Saturday, in Las Vegas.

As expected, reigning welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre topped the list with earnings of $400,000.

His opponent, Johnny Hendricks, got way less, earning only $50,000.

The post-fight interview for UFC 167 was opened by a very disappointed Dana White.

The UFC boss directed his criticism to the two judges that ruled Georges St. Pierre as the main event winner over Johnny Hendricks.

Questioned if he also thought that Hendricks had won, he answered with another question: “Does anyone here think GSP won that fight?”

He then added: “The Governor of Nevada has to intervene to stop the incompetence before the Commission ruins this sport as they ruined boxing,” said Dana.

Johnny came late to the table, but was clear on how he saw the fight: “I outpunched him, outwrestled him, outdid him in everything! But that was not enough for those two judges. I give George the third and the fifth rounds, but I’m sure won the other three. It’s only a small setback for me. I’ll be back and I’ll be batter and I’ll never let that happen again. If we meet again in the octagon, the fight will not go all the way.”

Later during the press conference, Georges St Pierre showed up with his face covered with bruises contrasting with hendricks clean face.

Asked what he thought of the fight, he said: “I think I won three rounds!”

Georges St. Pierre is still the undisputed welterweight champion of the world.

That’s what two out of three judges thought of his fight with Johnny Hendricks, the main event of UFC 167, this Saturday, in Las Vegas.

Hendricks started out more aggressive and effective and won rounds 1 and 2.

GSP came back on round 3 and round 4 was a close call.

Round 5 seemed to be Hendricks’ but the judges thought otherwise.

In the end, the result was 47-48 Hendricks, 48-47 GSP and 48-47 GSP.

After the fight, the two interviews were statements of how the fight went.

GSP, with the face showing the effects of Hendricks’ punches, said: “It was my toughest fight! I lost the memory of what happened during the fight.”

Hendricks, clean-faced, was upset: “I clearly thought I won this one. He didn’t land anything significant on me and I punished him hard. Anyway, the Lord didn’t want me to get this one, but that belt is mine and I’ll come and get it! The next time, I wont let this happen again!”

Back to GSP, the champion signaled a possible partial retirement: “I have some things to attend in my life so I have to hang my gloves for a while.”

Asked if he was saying goodbye for good, the champion said he would talk about that later.
