With over 400 students and friends in attendance the 2013 Winter Belt Ceremony was the largest  Jiu-Jitsu Belt Ceremony ever in Miami. Valente Brothers and Royce Gracie students united for a wonderful night of celebration.

The event took place at Valente Brothers Headquarters in North Miami Beach.

Grandmaster Pedro Valente and UFC Legend Royce Gracie were in attendance.

This year’s ceremony also celebrated the 20th anniversary of Professor Pedro’s arrival to Miami, the 20th anniversary of Royce Gracie’s first UFC Title in UFC I and the 60th anniversary of the friendship between the Valente and Gracie families.

15 new Black Belts were promoted.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1 the Valente brothers brought together over 300 people to remember Helio Gracie on his hundredth anniversary. The GMA Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Miami professors Pedro, Gui and Joaquim hosted an event at the Newport Beachside Hotel in Sunny Isle Beach, FL north of Miami.

All dressed in white kimonos, the night ensued with speeches, demonstrations and an overall showing of respect for the Grand Master.

In response to the event, the three brothers say:

“We are extremely grateful to each and every one of you who attended tonight’s tribute to the 100 years of Helio Gracie. This was the least we could do for the man who made Jiu-Jitsu possible for all of us. We are also thankful for all the nice messages we received during the course of the day. These demonstrations of respect and honor mean more than any choke, armlock, throw, or any physical technique performed on the mat.”

O dia 1º de outubro de 2013 não vai passar em branco, a não ser pela cor dos tradicionais kimonos nas academias.

No centenário do grande mestre, professor e ídolo do vale-tudo, diversas escolas preparam festas e homenagens a Helio Gracie e seu legado no Jiu-Jitsu.

No Rio de Janeiro, cidade onde o professor começou a ensinar, a escola Gracie Humaitá liderada pelo filho Rolker Gracie vai receber amigos e convidados a partir de 19h30. A academia promete inaugurar uma estátua de Helio, que faleceu em janeiro de 2009, em seu sítio em Itaipava. “Pedimos para todos virem de kimono branco, como gostava o mestre”, convidou Rolker.

Na academia de Royler Gracie em San Diego, estão previstas outras grandes homenagens. “Os cem anos de Helio Gracie serão festejados aqui. Vamos fazer uma apresentação com imagens antigas do mestre, uma demonstração de Jiu-Jitsu e defesa pessoal e, claro, vamos cantar parabéns, caso contrário não é aniversário”, diz Royler, a GRACIEMAG.

Em Miami, a festa também promete. A escola dos irmãos Pedro, Guilherme e Joaqui Valente na Flórida anunciou uma grande festa no hotel Newport Beach, em Sunny Isles, e as atrações surpresas prometem emocionar os fãs. “Podemos adiantar que teremos discursos, demonstrações, apresentação de vídeo e uma homenagem especial do condado de Miami ao centenário de HG. O evento é aberto a todos praticantes de Jiu-Jitsu”, convida Gui Valente.

Os netos do professor também estão preparando um evento marcante, no próximo sábado, dia 5. Em Los Angeles, no hotel Millennium Biltmore, Ryron, Rener, Kron, Kroyler, Ralek, Rhalan vão contar ao longo do dia histórias, mostrar técnicas e exibir filmes sobre os feitos do saudoso grande mestre. O pintor contemporâneo Stephen Holland vai apresentar pela primeira vez um quadro seu com a figura de Helio.

On Jan. 5, Guilherme Valente, a Jiu-Jitsu professor at Gracie Miami, was kicking back on vacation in Rio when he remembered to invite his friend Jacke, a famous DJ in St.-Tropez and Europe, to check out samba school Unidos da Tijuca rehearsing at the Sapucaí carnival grounds.

There the two bumped into Thierry Henry, the 35-year-old French superstar on top British soccer club Arsenal, who struck up a conversation about the UFC and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Gui Valente extended an invitation for him to practice the gentle art with him.

Passing through the land he helped devastate by winning the final of the 1998 World Cup, Henry still found time to get in some samba dancing.

Now, as for Gui Valente, he’s been dropping in at Gracie Humaitá in Rio, and next weekend will be returning home to Florida.

No último dia 5 de janeiro, o professor Guilherme Valente (Gracie Miami) estava curtindo férias pelo Rio e lembrou-se de convidar seu amigo Jacke, um dos mais famosos DJs de St. Tropez e da Europa, para assistir ao desfile da escola de samba Unidos da Tijuca, na Sapucaí.

Os dois se encontraram lá com o craque Thierry Henry, 35 anos, jogador do Arsenal, que conversou sobre o UFC e o Jiu-Jitsu brasileiro e recebeu um convite de Gui Valente para treinar a arte suave.

De passagem pelo Brasil, o artilheiro francês e carrasco da seleção no futebol aproveitou para sambar um pouco.

Já Gui Valente tem visitado a Gracie Humaitá, no Rio, e no fim de semana retorna para a Flórida.

They had the presence of Royce Gracie, graduated 14 students to the black belt and were also honored with the keys to the city of  North Miami Beach.

Royce Gracie at Valente Brothers’ Gracie Miami

The Valente Brothers welcomed last December 8th the legendary Royce Gracie for his annual seminar at Gracie Miami.

Over 120 people attended the event that lasted more than two hours.

Royce taught some of the moves that helped put him on the top of the Jiu-Jitsu and MMA world at his time.

Students from schools all around the USA and even abroad gathered in Florida for the event.

Royce was also present when the Valente Bros received the keys to the city of North Miami Beach from the hands of Mayor George Vallejo.

Rorion Gracie talks the Gracie Diet in miami

GMA member school Gracie Miami, under the Valente Brothers, will have a very special guest nex October 27.

Master Rorion Gracie will be in Florida to talk about his recently published book on the Gracie Diet.

From 2pm to 5pm, the red and black belt will teach how you can get healthier with the nutrition system Carlos Gracie Sr created.

The cost is $ 120 but if you take a family member you pay only $180.

VB, CTC and  GU members pay $90 or $135 with one family member.

Every participant will get a $40 “be healthy” gift (limited to one per family).

UFC Hall of Fame member Royce Gracie was there alongside the Valente family once again.

“Royce proved Jiu-Jitsu’s supremacy to the world and created all of what there is now in modern martial arts. Royce’s presence here brightened up our party and was an honor to us,” said red belt Pedro Valente.

A number of students were promoted at the party, but only ten received their black belts. They were: Asim Zaidi, Enrique Montoya, Eric Stupel, Felipe Lay, Frank Flores, Keith Lambert, Keih Romer, Ken Dellet, Miguel Reyes and Vinicius Pires, all of whom have practiced the gentle art for years and were rewarded out of merit and recognition.
