MMA promotion Bellator is now into its second season, with a grand prix style format. This Thursday, in Chicago, the organization’s fighter’s kicked off this year’s action.

Among the standouts, Wilson Reis, a Jiu-Jitsu black belt who has been known to show up in gi-clad competition, used the Gentle Art to tapout Shad Lierley via rear-naked choke. With the triumph, Reis goes through to the Featherweight GP semifinal. Now the Brazilian carries a record of 10 wins and one loss.

The big standout in the Lightweight GP was Pat Curran, who won with a first-round knockout.
