The ability to watch the Brazilian Abu Dhabi Pro tryouts live via the internet seems to have excited the fighters residing in Abu Dhabi. The city is entering the mood of what promises to be a memorable week for the fight world.

With television commercials, videos and posters in major shopping centers, MMA and Jiu-Jitsu is taking everyone by storm.
On Sunday night, while tryouts took place in southern Brazil, many Jiu-Jitsu practitioners in Abu Dhabi were in front of their computers analyzing the matches.

That was the case with Zumbi Larara, who had an excellent match with Tarsis Humphreys in the first installment of the World Pro last year: “I found the technical level of tryouts to be really high, the guys are very well prepared. Ricardo Demente really impressed me; I think he’s a strong candidate for 12 thousand dollars offered to the absolute champion, but we are training hard here, too. ”

Others who didn’t take their eyes off the screen were brown belt Ammar Mutie and blue belt Ahmad Al Ketbi, respectively gold and bronze medalists in the masters division at the European championship. Both born and raised in Abu Dhabi, they are a generation that grew up watching the ADCC, when it included José Mario Sperrry, Renzo and Royler Gracie, Ricardo Arona and Ricardo Cachorrão.

These Jiu-Jitsu lovers are the main and effective means of disseminating the gentle art in the Middle Eastern population. “Watching the Brazilian tryouts was the same as taking a lesson in strategy. Brazil never stops producing exceptional fighters, but we’re learning,” says Ammar.

A possibilidade de assistir ao vivo, via internet,  a seletiva brasileira pra o Abu Dhabi Pro parece ter animado os lutadores residentes em Abu Dhabi. A cidade vai entrando no clima da que promete ser uma semana memorável para o mundo das lutas.

Com comerciais de TV, vídeos e cartazes nos grandes shopings centers, o MMA e o Jiu-Jitsu vão contagiando todas as pessoas.
Na noite deste domingo, enquanto acontecia a seletiva no sul do Brasil, vários praticantes de Jiu-Jitsu em Abu Dhabi estavam na frente do computador analisando as lutas.

Foi o caso por exemplo de Zumbi Larara, que fez excelente luta com Tarsis Humphreys no primeira edição do World Pro ano passado: “Achei o nível técnico da seletiva muito alto, o pessoal está muito bem preparado. Ricardo Demente me causou uma excelente impressão, acho ele um forte candidato aos 12 mil dólares oferecidos ao campeão absoluto, mas também estamos treinando forte por aqui.”

Outros que não “desgrudaram os olhos” da tela foram o faixa-marrom Ammar Mutie e o faixa-azul Ahmad Al Ketbi, respectivamente medalhistas de ouro e bronze na categoria master do Europeu. Ambos nascidos e criados em Abu Dhabi, eles são de uma geração que se acostumou a ver lutas no ADCC em que figuravam José Mario Sperrry, Renzo e Royler Gracie, Ricardo Arona e Ricardo Cachorrão.

São estes apaixonados pelo Jiu-Jitsu o principal e eficiente meio de divulgação da arte suave entre a população árabe. “Assistir à seletiva do Brasil foi a mesma coisa que ter uma aula de estratégia de luta. O Brasil não para de produzir excelentes lutadores, mas estamos aprendendo”, diz Ammar.
