O professor Pedro Valente, à frente da Valente Brothers, sediada na Flórida, nos Estados Unidos, repassou com seus alunos um leque de técnicas de defesa pessoal úteis em situações reais, para evitar que você passe algum tipo de perrengue nas ruas. 

Confira alguns ataques e contra-ataques, com direito a quedas, imobilizações e finalizações voltadas à situações reais de combate.

The Valente Brothers held a massive belt ceremony last Monday, Dec. 7.

With the special presences of Grandmaster Pedro Valente and Royce Gracie, Pedro, Guilherme and Joaquim welcomed more than 500 students for the awarding of new belts and ceremonies.

Among all the students that got new belts, two deserve a special mention.

Sisters, Hannah Basel and Regis Giles became the first females to pass the black belt test by GM Pedro Valente.

Hannah and Regis have been with the Valentes since the youth program.

Over 450 students and friends attended to Helio Gracie Belt Ceremony.

On December 8th, the GMA Valente Brothers hosted a special graduation event at their headquarters in North Miami Beach called “Helio Gracie Belt Ceremony” that counted with the honorable presence of Royce Gracie and over 450 students and friends who attended.

The peak of the day had two emotional moments with the graduation of their first female Black Belt, and a little boy who received a promotion in the name of his father who passed this year.

About the occasion the Valente Bros said:

“Words cannot describe our feeling of gratitude and happiness after Monday’s Helio Gracie Belt Ceremony held at Valente Brothers Headquarters in North Miami Beach. There were so many incredible moments. We had our first female Black Belt, Regis Giles, who began training when she was only 8 years old in our Youth Program. Also, we awarded a posthumous Black Belt to our dear brother Nelson Semedo, who passed this year. His wife and son were in attendance and received the Belt. Raffaella and Lionel, this was very important to all of us, thank you so much. Lastly, I would like to congratulate all new belt recipients and thank all our students, friends and Royce Gracie, who along with his Black Belts joined us to demonstrate the VB spirit of mutual welfare and benefit, supporting our brothers and sisters who received their new ranks. “

Earlier this month GMA Valente Brothers and Black belt professor Gui Valente travelled to Holland for an intense week of Jiu-Jitsu.

Gui taught seminars and was invited to visit the training center of the Amsterdam Police and to demonstrate Jiu-Jitsu at the Royal Dutch Marines Base in Doorn.

Last year the Valente brothers also established a Study Group in the city of Weesp, located minutes away from Amsterdam.

The Valente brothers, Pedro, Gui and Joaquim, at their GMA Valente Brothers Jiu-Jitsu Academy in North Miami Beach for a tribute to Grandmaster Helio Gracie on Wednesday, October 1.

The brothers have deemed the event Helio Day and it will consist of a fundamentals class and celebration of the man who taught the brothers since they were toddlers. As part of their preservation of Helio’s teachings, the event will carry on his ideals on and off the mat.

The academy is located at 3165 NE 163rd St., North Miami Beach, Florida 33160.

The event begins at 7 p.m.

Rodrigo Faro, Pedro, Joaquim and Gui Valente with the Miami-Dade Police.

On Tuesday, Aug. 12th, the Valente brothers, Pedro, Gui and Joaquim invited Rodrigo Faro, a Brazilian TV celebrity and host of the Sunday show, “A Hora do Faro,” to visit the training grounds of the Miami-Dade Police.

The brothers along with Troy Lee, a VB Brown Belt & MDPD Sergeant, took Rodrigo on a tour throughout the SWAT (SRT) training facilities and demonstrated how the Valente brothers, Rio de Janeiro natives, are helping prepare the Miami-Dade Police to fight crime in South Florida.

The TV special will air next month in Brazil and on channel Record International to over 150 countries.

In a conversation with GRACIEMAG, Gui Valente talked about teaching Jiu-Jitsu to the Miami Police and how was the visit of the Brazilian celebrity to their school.

GRACIEMAG: Tell us about the work the Valentes brothers do with the Miami Police?

Gui Valente: Our work with the Miami-Dade Police (the largest police department in Florida) started in the year 2000. Since the focus of our Jiu-jitsu has always been self-defense, through my older brother, Pedro, who was the first to start teaching here in Miami, this has always attracted many officers to train with us. Since then we have taught classes for police officers of almost all departments here in South Florida.

GRACIEMAG: Do you guys have any specific self-defense program for it?

Gui Valente: In addition, our youngest brother, Joaquin, who majored in Criminology with a specialization in public safety, has developed a training program that covers everything from the part of our defense program and specific attack to the police until all the psychological area of a possible confrontation or police approach.

GRACIEMAG: Rodrigo Faro is a big celebrity in Brazil. What did he think about the visit?

Gui Valente: Rodrigo Faro never trained BJJ but demonstrated that he can learn quickly after a short lesson we gave to him during the interview. He said he came to us because the idea of the show was to find the most successful Brazilians in Florida, which was an honor for us.

The ceremony had two special guests as well: Grandmaster Pedro Valente and Royce Gracie.

The day marked the 20-year anniversary of Professor Pedro’s arrival to Miami, the 20-year anniversary of Royce Gracie’s first UFC title and the 60-year anniversary of the friendship between the two families.

Fifteen students were presented their ultimate promotion of black belt among many other promotions.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1 the Valente brothers brought together over 300 people to remember Helio Gracie on his hundredth anniversary. The GMA Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Miami professors Pedro, Gui and Joaquim hosted an event at the Newport Beachside Hotel in Sunny Isle Beach, FL north of Miami.

All dressed in white kimonos, the night ensued with speeches, demonstrations and an overall showing of respect for the Grand Master.

In response to the event, the three brothers say:

“We are extremely grateful to each and every one of you who attended tonight’s tribute to the 100 years of Helio Gracie. This was the least we could do for the man who made Jiu-Jitsu possible for all of us. We are also thankful for all the nice messages we received during the course of the day. These demonstrations of respect and honor mean more than any choke, armlock, throw, or any physical technique performed on the mat.”

The Valente brothers are located in Florida at their GMA academy, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Miami, where the Stand Your Ground law exists. The issues of gun control, self-defense, human rights and more are spoken about. You’ve certainly heard that Jiu-Jitsu is one of the most complete self defense systems that are useful for women, senior and children.

But how does this work in practice?

The grandmasters Carlos and Helio Gracie developed a program of 36 basic lessons, involving about a hundred Jiu-Jitsu techniques. From the repetition of such movements, the student prepares his or her subconscious to react by pure reflex to a variety of attacks by angry people.

Valente brothers, professors at Gracie Miami, faithful to the method, show in this video how the techniques work and how they fit well to women.
