Informações indicam que a lesão de Cormier foi na canela, após uma sessão de sparring. Os primeiros indícios de que a lesão poderia comprometer a luta apareceram durante um torneio de wrestling nos EUA, no qual Cormier apareceu mancando. Não se sabe a gravidade da lesão ou se Cormier vai ser remanejado para outro evento juntamente com Jones, ou se o Ultimate dará outro adversário para o ex-campeão no mesmo UFC 197.

Outra alternativa da organização seria usar o co-evento para suprir a ausência de Cormier x Jones. Demetrious Johnson, campeão peso-mosca do UFC, encara Henry Cejudo na mesma noite, e o combate pode facilmente ser “promovido” à luta principal.

Jones foi à juízo para responder pelas recentes acusações, e foi liberado após receber mais 60 horas de trabalho comunitário, adicionais à pena que já cumpre pelo acidente de 2015, e a designação de não dirigir sem prestar esclarecimentos ao seu juiz de condicional.

O ex-campeão meio-pesado é esperado para encarar Daniel Cormier, em comate válido pelo cinturão da categoria. O co-evento da noite, e possível luta substituta caso o problema de Jones não se resolvesse, será entre Demetrious Johnson e Henry Cejudo pelo cinturão peso-mosca.

Former UFC light-heavyweight Jon Jones is cleared to compete against Daniel Cormier, at UFC 197, in Las Vegas, on April 23.

Judge Michael Martinez ruled today on the Bernalillo County District Attorney request to have Jones’ probation revoked and then reinstated with three new conditions: completing a driver improvement course; agreeing to a curfew; enrolling in and completing an anger management counseling course.

The judge declined to impose a curfew but decided the fighter cannot drive without the permission of his probation officer. Jones is on probation after a conviction for a hit-and-run in 2015 that resulted in injuries to a pregnant woman.

He turned himself in earlier this week after being cited for allegedly engaging in drag racing on the streets of Albuquerque, NM, and was charged with probation violation.

De acordo com a publicação, Jones foi abordado por um policial após ter supostamente participado de um racha com outro carro. Ao ser parado pelo oficial, Jones contestou a abordagem, mas acabou sendo levado para o Departamento Policial de Albuquerque, no Novo México.

Jones havi recebido, dias atrás, cinco multas em outro episódio, uma delas por dirigir em alta velocidade. Para ser liberado, Jones teve que doar uma quantia em dinheiro para uma ONG e se comprometer a não se envolver em desentendimentos legais por 90 dias, mas dois dias foram necessários para que o ex-campeão voltasse à mira policial.

O juiz responsável pelo caso de Jones considerou o novo incidente como violação de condicional, e o mesmo foi encaminhado para prisão regional, onde aguarda o andamento do processo.

It didn’t take 24 hours for the trash talk to start between Conor McGregor and Rafael dos Anjos prior to their UFC 197 fight for the lightweight title.

First, McGregor called RDA a traitor to his country and people of Brazil and promised to behead the champion.

Today, Dos Anjos answered with an interview to Brazil’s Combate.com.

He told Ana Hissa: “José Aldo was undefeated for 10 years and so he deserved a instant rematch, even so because of how the fight played out. It was a convincing victory, but not a dominant victory. This man now wants to come to my division ato make history, but I think his story will come to a halt when he bumps into me. He’ll go back to featherweight and I want Aldo to fight him next. I will send McGregor back to the featherweight and Aldo will finish him.”

Rafael dos Anjos and Conor McGregor will clash for the lightweight belt on March 5, as the main event of UFC 197, in Las Vegas.

The first rumors about the fight came last week, but then reports surfaced that McGregor was not willing to sign the fight contract for the amount the UFC offered.

If Conor wins, he will be only the third fighter to win belts in two different divisions, joining BJ Penn and Randy Couture.

Other than the main event, female bantamweight Holly Holm will defend her belt for the first time against #2 in the rankings, Miesha Tate.

Brazilian reporter Evelyn Rodrigues broke the news today that the fight said to be a sure thing between Rafael dos Anjos and Conor McGregor is not yet confirmed.

According to a report today on O Globo, the Irish fighter is asking for more money than the UFC agreed to pay.

Also according to Evelyn, mentioning sources close to McGregor and RDA, the only thing missing is Conor’s signature on the contract for the fight to be announced as the main event of UC 197, on March 5, in Las Vegas.

Evelyn also reveals that the UFC wanted to announce the fight at the halftime of the NFL game between Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins, this Sunday.

The UFC has not officially announced but GRACIEMAG.com has been able to independently confirm that UFC 197’s main event will be a battle between champions in Rafael dos Anjos and Conor McGregor.

Bleacher Report first broke the news earlier today that the March 5th card, in Las Vegas, will also feature Holly Holm’s first title defense against number 2 in the ranking, Miesha Tate. GRACIEMAG.co was also able to confirm that Holm will fight Tate.

The news of the fight between RDA and McGregor confirms what UFC President said right after the Irish fighter beat Jose Aldo for the featherweight belt: “If McGregor moves up to lightweight, his first fight will be for the belt.”

After that statement, Dos Anjos demolished Donald Cerrone to keep his title in the lightweight division.

Holly Holm will face the best ranked female after Ronda Rousey after news broke that the champion did not want to wait for Rousey to be able to come back for a rematch, probably on UFC 200, this July.

White also confirmed that Holm would fight at least once before the rematch against Ronda.

The UFC should confirm the two bouts for UFC 197 in the next hours.
