Ronda Rousey finally had something to comment about the controversy involving her statement saying she could beat any women in BJJ today.

After the heated response from BJJ champions at GRACIEMAG.com, the UFC batamweight champion was asked a question about the theme recently in a event in Macau, China.

Ronda not only stood behind her words, but also said that it is a question of how much for her to show up at a grappling match.

Here’s what she said: “No, I haven’t seen their responses, and I’m not going to look for it. If people want to pay me as much as what I get paid in the UFC to go roll with them, I’d go do that too! But I’ve got movies, I’ve got fights, and I just don’t have the time to put in a grappling training camp. They’re only upset because they think they can beat me, so why shouldn’t I be just as upset at their opinion thinking they could beat me? Why are they so much more entitled to their opinion than mine?”

Ronda “Rowdy” Rousey follows unbeatable in the female bantamweight UFC event, chaired by Dana White. On the last weekend in Las Vegas at UFC 175, a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu and judo used only 16 seconds to knock out Alexis Davis and maintain the most coveted belt on the planet. It was the fastest win in the career of the student of the Gracie brothers, Rener and Ryron.

To better understand what happened in the female fighting, GRACIEMAG spoke with Jiu-Jitsu world champion Caio Terra, who was part of the preparation of Alexis to duel against the champion.

GRACIEMAG: Caio, in your opinion, what went wrong in the Alexis Davis fight?

Caio Terra: The fight was very fast, so it’s hard to say what Alexis missed. Sometimes a small mistake is fatal in a fight. But others believe that Alexis shortened the distance hoping that Ronda was going to clinch and take the fight to the ground, but Ronda exchanged punches and took the best standing up. When Alexis went down she was passed out on the ground, even Ronda said that. Alexis did not know that the fight had gone to the ground.

What did you talked to her after the fight?

She apologized, was shocked with what had happened. But unfortunately it is something that can happen to anyone. All we humans are prone to make mistakes and sometimes one mistake in a second can change your destiny. If you do not enter a fight at 100% and your opponent comes in hot, the chances of you falling are quite large. Most importantly, she is a warrior and cannot wait to be able to enter the Octagon again and prove she deserves another chance.

Caio, you can see some loophole in Ronda Rousey’s game?

Ronda is a great champion and undoubtedly will not be easy to defeat her. But I believe, yes, that is possible and I think it is important to be prepared for when the time come

s to take benefit. She, like all of us fighters or some other martial arts, we are always evolving, just keep looking for the proper evolution and believe it is possible.

What is your analysis for the main fight of UFC 175, Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida?

They are two great fighters. Actually I saw the fight, but did not pay much attention because I ended up going to the locker room to talk to Alexis, and I could only see on TV. But from what I saw, I thought Weidman fought the first three rounds and then wanted to manage without many risks, which almost cost him the fight. Lyoto took a little more time to start taking risks, but when he decided to shorten his distance a little he had some opportunities to have ended the fight.

Campeão em duas categorias no UFC, o havaiano BJ Penn decidiu pendurar as luvas e encerrar uma carreira gloriosa no MMA após a noite desse domingo.

De fato, sua última batalha no octógono foi dolorosa. Pelo evento TUF 19 Finale, BJ sofreu um nocaute aplicado por seu rival Frank Edgar, aos 4min16s do terceiro assalto, depois de ser amplamente dominado nos dois primeiros rounds.

Primeiro americano a ser campeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu pela IBJJF, em 2000, o astro havaiano da Nova União decretou o fim da carreira profissional ao microfone de Joe Rogan.

“Talvez eu não devesse ter voltado, nem ter vindo aqui hoje e competir com um cara de um nível tão alto como Frankie Edgar. O Dana disse que minha carreira acabou e tenho de concordar com ele nesse ponto”, sentenciou o faixa-preta.

Vencedor da noite, Frankie Edgar também opinou sobre a luta:

“Eu não estava preocupado com o que ele iria fazer, mas sim, em como como eu iria fazer. De qualquer forma, foi uma boa vitória. Não tenho nada além de profundo respeito pelo BJ”, disse.

Mais uma vez, o UFC preparou um card galática para o feriado da independência dos EUA. No dia 5 de julho, em Las Vegas, o UFC 175 levou aos fãs de MMA duas disputas de cinturão.

No combate principal, Chris Weidman superou Lyoto Machidana decisão dos jurados. Já no co-evento, Ronda Rousey não tomou conhecimento de Alexis Davis e nocauteou com apenas 16s de combate. (REVEJA O COMBATE)

Outra notícia relevante no card foi o cancelamento do combate entre Stefan Struve e Matt Mitrione. Struve, enquanto se aquecia para sua luta, desmaiou e foi levado ao hospital. (CONFIRA AQUI)

Weidman domina e defende o título peso médio

No combate mais esperado da noite, Chris Weidman tinha pela frente o sedento Lyoto Machida em combate valendo o cinturão peso-médio do UFC. Lyoto, ex-campeão peso meio-pesado do Ultimate, busca um lugar ao lado de Randy Couture e BJ Penn como atleta campeão em duas divisões diferentes do UFC. Porém, para alcançar a conquista, teria que superar o jovem Weidman, que em suas duas últimas lutas venceu ninguém menos que o lendário Anderson Silva.

No combate, o esperado. Weidman investia em fortes golpes na trocação, enquanto Lyoto evadia e respondia no contra-ataque. Weidman tentou derrubar o brasileiro, mas o trabalho de defesa de quedas estava em dia por parte de Lyoto.

Na trocação, Weidman  mostrou que estava apto a disputar com o feroz karateca. Bons golpes e sempre andando para frente, Weidman dominou em pé por boa parte do combate. Socos e cotoveladas tiravam a pujança de Lyoto, que respondia como podia. Algumas quedas do feroz wrestler também contabilizaram pontos importantes.

O ritmo do combate só mudou no final do terceiro e início do quarto assalto, quando Lyoto conseguiu encaixar algumas sequencias e balançar o atual campeão. Mas o queixo de Weidman também estava presente no combate. Absorvendo as investidas do brasileiro, Weidman administrou, derrubou, e até chegou perto de finalizar no quinto assalto. Lyoto escapou do sufoco e deu tudo de si nos 10 segundo finais do combate. Sem sucesso. Vitória incontestável de Chris Weidman em uma luta memorável.

Bruno Carioca vence e demais brasileiros perdem na decisão

Ainda no card principal, Thiago Marreta enfrentou Uriah Hall. Mostrando dominância no combate, Hall abaixou a guarda, golpeou da maneira que quis e trouxe  certo receio ao brasileiro, que tentava sem cansar atingir seu adversário. Fato curioso do combate foi que Uriah Hall sofreu grave lesão no dedo do pé, que quebrou de forma exposta durante a luta. Sem esmaecer  pela lesão, Iruah dominou os três assaltos e venceu na decisão.

No card preliminar, no qual atuaram três brasileiros, apenas um saiu com a vitória. Bruno Carioca, que enfrentou Chris Camozzi na divisão de médios, teve trabalho para colocar o grandalhão no solo, mas quando o fez, trabalhou bem por cima e contabilizou importantes pontos para vencer na decisão dividida dos jurados. Menor sorte para Ildemar Marajó e Guilherme Bomba, que foram superados na decisão unânime em seus combate.

Destaque também para a ágil finalização de Urijah Faber sobre Alex Caceres, com um estrangulamento justo pelas costas. (REVEJA O COMBATE)

Chris Weidman is still the UFC middleweight champion.

In five rounds , he defeated challenger Lyoto Machida by unanimous decision (49-45, 48-47, 49-46).

The champion started out better and after a close first round, grew his control over Machida in the next two rounds.

Round three was Weidman’s best and many felt the fight could have ended there.

Machida held on and proved on round 4 that nothing was written in stone.

A cross punch to Weidman’s chin made the champion’s legs woobly and the Brazilian saw his opportunity to snatch the belt.

For the next minute and a half, Lyoto worked his punches, but wasn’t able to finish the matter.

Fighting five rounds for the first time in his career, Weidman put his gameplan in action on round 5 and was able to control the action once again.

With less than two minutes to go, Weidman got the takedown to make things more safe for him.

Machida had no more strength to do anything else.

The bell rang and the crowd cheered like crazy, recognizing the great action they had witnessed.

Weidman kept his belt and talked about the opponent: “He was tough as I thought. Fast, unpredictable I don’t remember if I got hurt. Have to watch the tape”.

Machida, as classy as always, gave all the credit to his opponent: “He deserves the title. He is the true champion. I’ll be back.”

On the co-main event of the evening, Ronda Rousey once again showed her fans (and haters) that she is one step (maybe two) ahead of her opponents.

In only 16s, Rousey clocked Alexis Davis and got her trademark judo throw to land in side control and puch from there until the ref said enough.

“It just seems that whatever I’m working on in training camp I have implemented effectively in the fight,” commented Ronda on her win.

Fearless, when asked if she would fight less than one month from now, on August 2, she said: “I have to talk with my team, but it’s likely.”

On a sadder note, the UFC pulled the fight between Stefan Struve vs. Matt Mitrione due to a non-life-threatening, near-fainting spell backstage.

Later on, during the press conference, Dana White said that Struve is ok and the doctors have cleared him.

Even so, the UFC boss added, commenting on Struve’s heart condition: “It’s one of those things. He has to think about his life and make a decision.”

Bicampeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu, Caio Terra vem se colocando como um bom técnico além de um ótimo competidor. Investindo mais no lado professor, Caio vai para sua segunda participação em treinos de desafiantes a cinturão do UFC.

Em 2012, Caio Terra aprimorou o jogo de solo de Carlos Condit para enfrentar Georges St-Pierre em uma missão complicada. Agora, o desafio foi amolar o Jiu-Jitsu da faixa-preta Alexis Davis, que encara campeã Ronda Rousey no co-evento principal do UFC 175, que rola no próximo sábado, dia 5 de julho.

A missão é fazer com que Alexis supere a campeã em suas temidas quedas e seu letal armlock. Caio diz que as quedas são inevitáveis, mas quanto ao armolck uma dica: “Jiu-Jitsu se vence com Jiu-Jitsu”.

Confira a entrevista do nosso Nalty Junior com o professor Caio Terra:

GRACIEMAG: Caio, você tem treinado alguns caras no MMA e agora vai estar no corner da Alexis. Como você ahca que vai ser a luta?
Caio Terra: Eu acredito muito na Alexis. Ronda é uma atleta dura para qualquer um, mas eu sei que nosso plano de jogo e estratégia vão prevalecer. A Alexis treinou forte e melhorou muitos aspectos em pouco tempo, por isso acho que seguirmos nosso plano coisas boas irão acontecer.

Falando de estratégia, qual o plano para lidar com o jogo de quedas da judoca Rousey?
Não tem como evitar que a Ronda Rousey te leve para o chão e derrubar ela é uma tarefa tão difícil quanto ficar de pé. Se você conseguir derrubar a Ronda você pode pedir seu lugar nos Jogos Olímpicos. Ela treinou o trabalho de quedas durante toda a vida, no Judo. Mas essa é a beleza do Jiu-Jitsu, sempre que você leva ou é levado para o chão, você sabe que ali é o seu lugar bom para se estar.

Então você não está preocupado com as quedas, mas enquanto ao armlock? Qual a estratégia?
Bem, isso é o que nós temos que saber e você tem que descobrir durante a luta. Não tem muito segredo, Ronda gosta do armlock. Mas a melhor maneira de vencer o Jiu-Jitsu é com o Jiu-Jitsu. Eu acho que estamos preparados. Vamos ver.

Essa é a segunda vez que você ajuda em uma disputa de título no UFC. Você já pensou em migrar para treinador de MMA?
Eu amo o Jiu-Jitsu e sempre vou amar. Ele mudou minha vida de uma maneira que eu jamais iria imaginar. Eu descobri há pouco tempo que eu gosto tanto de competir quanto de ser treinador. Treinar atletas me da a oportunidade de ajudar nos sonhos de outras pessoas, e caminhar nos sonhos delas é sensacional. Enquanto o Jiu-Jitsu for parte do MMA eu estarei com estes competidores. Mas sem esquecer que a minha paixão é o Jiu-Jitsu.
