Jake Shields won and called out Jon Jones. Submission Underground

Submission Underground, the no-gi organization led by Chael Sonnen, reached its fourth installment last night in Portland, with four submission-only superfights featuring MMA and BJJ stars. The main event saw former UFC fighter Jake Shields defeat Dillon Danis, who coaches Conor McGregor, via fastest escape time over the three rounds. After the fight, which went into overtime, Shields sent out a grappling challenge to former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Another match saw Paulo Miyao defeat former UFC contender Urijah Faber. Myiao worked his guard game and sought Faber’s back the whole time. After overtime, Miyao was deemed the winner via escaping the quickest over three rounds.

Lightweight UFC fighter Gilbert “Durinho” Burns beat John Combs in round 1 with a rear naked choke, and Nate Orchard beat Michael Perez in overtime via fastest escape time after three rounds.

Submission Underground, a no-gi grappling organization led by Chael Sonnen that is approaching its fourth event, has pitted two unlikely names against each other.

BJJ world champion Paulo Miyao, who recently secured a spot in ADCC 2017, will test his no-gi skills opposite former WEC champion and UFC contender Urijah Faber.

This match is part of a line-up also featuring Dillon Danis vs. Jake Shields as well as UFC fighter Gilbert Durinho vs. John Combs. Check back with Graciemag.com for more announcements.

No ritmo de casar lutas entre astros do Jiu-Jitsu e atletas do UFC, o Submission Underground, evento sem kimono organizado por Chael Sonnen que chega a sua quarta edição, colou dois nomes improváveis frente a frente no card.

Paulo Miyao, campeão mundial na faixa-preta e recém-confirmado no ADCC 2017 após vencer a seletiva carioca do torneio, colocará suas habilidades sem pano contra ninguém menos que Urijah Faber, ex-campeão do WEC e diversas vezes postulante ao título mundial do UFC.

O combate entre os dois será parte de um grande card montado para o evento, que terá ainda Dillon Danis, faixa-preta de Marcelo Garcia e parceiro de treinos de Conor McGregor, na luta principal contra o ex-UFC Jake Shields, além do campeão mundial e atleta do UFC Gilbert Durinho, contra John Combs, americano que complicou o GP de Leves da Copa Podio neste ano, e outras lutas ainda a serem confirmadas no evento.

He faced Garry Tonon, who had been on a fantastic roll, at no-gi BJJ event Submission Underground 3.

After controlling the nape of Tonon’s neck, Carlos Jr. jumped and applied a nice flying triangle. With his opponent then on the ground, Carlos Jr. made all the adjustments and achieved the tap-out.

The third edition of Submission Underground, held last night in Portland, Oregon, saw a main event between Dillon Danis and Aj Agazarm. Danis beat Agazarm in overtime. He had already performed better on regular time, attempting several takedowns and some leg attacks. Afterwards he challenged former UFC champion Jon Jones.

The co-main event saw Antônio Carlos “Cara de Sapato” Jr. achieve a nice submission on Garry Lee Tonon. The duel was a standup affair for a good while, until Carlos Jr. performed a flying triangle to force the tap-out.

Another great match saw UFC’s Chad Mendes defeat showman Jeff Glover. As usual, Glover got the crowd cheering with his acrobatics. But that was to no avail, as Glover sank a rear naked choke in overtime

The opening bout saw Gordon Ryan submit Joe Baize via armlock. To get to the submission, Ryan took Baize’s back and transitioned to the arm, ending the match before overtime could kick in.

Submission Underground 3’s card has had another change. BJJ black-belt Garry Tonon, who was at first going to fight Hector Lombar and then Chael Sonnen, now has a brand new opponent lined up. He will face UFC athlete Antônio Carlos “Cara de Sapato” Jr.

Lombard bowed out after having his next UFC bout scheduled for February. Promoter Chael Sonnen then recruited himself for his place, but Bellator, with whom Sonnen is signed, removed him from the card. So Submission Underground invited Antônio Carlos Jr., a brown belt world BJJ champion who regularly spars with Rodolfo Vieira at American Top Team.

SUG 3 is slated for Jan. 29 at the Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon, and will also feature Dillon Danis vs. AJ Agazarm and Chad Mendes vs. Jeff Glover.

The Submission Underground 3 card just suffered a last-minute change. Hector Lombard, who was going to face black-belt Garry Lee Tonon in one of the superfights, had to be removed after he had a UFC fight announced for Feb. 19 versus Johny Hendricks. Submission Underground’s own promoter Chael Sonnen will now replace him, according to FloSports.

SUG 3 will take place Jan. 29 at Portland’s Roseland Theater and feature Dillon Danis vs. AJ Agazarm as well as Chad Mendes vs. Jeff Glover.

The third installment of Submission Underground, slated for Jan. 29 in Portland, Oregon, will feature a superfight between AJ Agazarm and Dillon Danis. The info comes from MMA Fighting’s Luke Thomas.

Agazarm of Gracie Barra has titles at the BJJ Pan and No-Gi Worlds. Dillon, a student under Marcelo Garcia and coach to Conor McGregor, was a brown-belt Pan and world champion, and recently won double gold at the No-Gi Pan.

Submission Underground is promoted by Chael Sonnen. Its Dec. 11 edition saw Jon Jones use his time off the UFC to submit Dan Henderson.

Finalmente Jo Jones e Dan Henderson ficaram frente a frente no cage, mas quem pensa que as feras colidiram no MMA se engana. Jones e Hendo fizeram a luta principal do Submission Underground 2, realizado no último domingo, nos EUA. Em remontagem próxima ao duelo que não aconteceu em 2012, no UFC 151, as feras se encararam em duelo de Jiu-Jitsu sem kimono, e quem levou a melhor foi Jones, ao pegar Henderson no katagatame.

O duelo foi descontraído. Jones levou Hendo para a grade e tentou derrubar, mas o veterano se desvencilhou. Após rápida troca de brincadeiras, Jones voltou a investir e após minutos de tentativas conseguiu fintar um ataque nas pernas e chegar nas costas de Hendo ainda em pé, desequilibrando o casca-grossa que foi ao solo, com Jones já no cem-quilos.

Jones trabalhou bem por cima. Com pressão e sem deixar espaços em seu volumoso ataque, o aluno de Roberto Tussa, que inclusive usava uma bermuda da Gracie Barra, teve seu momento na luta ao conseguir a montada, já com a mão por baixo da cabeça de Hendo, para assim apenas buscar o cotovelo e passar a cabeça por baixo do braço do oponente, para tê-lo preso no katagatame.

Hendo bateu e a galera vibrou. Na entrevista pós-luta, feita pelo idealizador do evento, Chael Sonnen, Jones não se intimidou e desafiou o ex-companheiro de UFC ali mesmo. Sonnen, que está marcado para lutar contra Tito Ortiz no Bellator e Ricardo Libório no ADCC, não deu para trás e aceitou, projetando para janeiro o combate. Ainda no evento, a ex-campeã Miesha Tate bateu Jéssica Eya na decisão e Jeff Monson finalizou Warren Brooks no mata-leão.

Former light heavyweight UFC champion Jon Jones is suspended from MMA for doping until July of next year, but he’s still fighting. December 11 in Oregon, he faced Dan Henderson at the grappling event Submission Underground 2, organized by Chael Sonnen.

In a no-gi BJJ match, Jones managed to take Henderson down and landed on side control. Then he worked until he got the mount and sank the winning kata-gatame. Afterwards he challenged Sonnen, who had been commentating live. Sonnen immediately accepted.

As duas feras do meio-pesado do UFC se enfrentarão em duelo de Jiu-Jitsu sem kimono, como luta principal do Submission Underground 2, evento de Jiu-Jitsu profissional organizado pelo ex-UFC e agora atleta do Bellator Chael Sonnen.

A luta, assim como demais embates do torneio, será realizada no dia 10 de dezembro, no Oregon, EUA. Na luta coprincipal, a ex-campeã dos pesos-galos Miesha Tate testará seu poder de grappling, já conhecido dos leitores de GRACIEMAG, contra a também atleta do Ultimate Jessica Eye.

Jones, que está suspenso do Ultimate até o ano que vem pela USADA, fez recente empreitada num torneio de Jiu-Jitsu sem kimono, e se deu bem. Hendo, por sua vez, tem base forte no wrestling, com diversas conquistas no esporte antes de lutar MMA, mas nos cages anotou apenas duas vitórias por finalização, em 47 lutas disputadas.

O duelo de ex-UFCs foi bastante técnico, com boas transições e ataques para finalizações. Para definir, Vinny armou a arapuca e deu o seu pé de presente para Markes. O atleta da Nova União atacou na chave de pé, mas Vinny usou a distração para atacar sorrateiramente uma chave de tornozelo muito justa.
