The match wasn’t as exciting as most matches but if you watch in 2x the speed you’ll be able to highlight the major moves more easily. Paulo earns a sweep when he gets Leo to his butt and tries to take the back. While he doesn’t secure the back, he gets on top before Leo moves into deep half and earns a counter sweep. See how Paulo deals with the pressure from on top and the slowed down movement later on in the match by Leo in the closed guard.

Tijuca Tenis Clube welcomes the first Rio BJJ Pro

If you are planing a Jiu-Jitsu trip to Brazil, know that you now have an extra reason to chose the week of November 15 – 16.

That’s when the CBJJ (Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Confederation) will hold the first ever Rio BJJ Pro, at the world famous Tijuca Tenis Clube.

The event will offer over R$ 40,000 (US$18,000) in prizes for its champions.

The black belt division alone will have a prize total of R$ 20,000 (US$ 8,000).

The event is open for all athletes.

This past Saturday, August 3, Rio Pro BJJ academy in Beachwood, Ohio hosted Gracie Barra leader Vinicius Draculino Magalhaes. The professor of champions like black belt world champions Romulo Barral and Samuel Braga taught a seminar during his visit.

Professor Jose Dias said the seminar was “amazing.” After Draculino shared his knowledge he led a belt ceremony where seven students were promoted to blue belt and one student received their purple belt.

Rio Pro BJJ atop podium in Chicago

GMA member Jose Dias, leader of Rio Pro BJJ in Ohio, is very pleased with his team.

His students travelled to Chicago, Ill. last weekend to compete at the IBJJF Chicago Open International.

Recently formed Team Semper Altius had only seven athletes but managed to walk out with five medals.

The team recently created by Professor Jose Dias is already showing amazing results. With only seven athletes, they took home five medals.
